Usually alright for pre-season friendlies on a weekend afternoon. Suppose it'll depend on how well we do in the transfer market, so probably 90 minutes of moaning and 'build us a team, not a hotel'.

I walk or take the bus from Leeds, but parking's renowned for being a bit **** and expensive in certain places around Elland Road.

I might be able to let you park at my work's carpark (not been there long obviously so don't if people use it on matchdays like), or failing that there's parking around the rest of Geldard road or on Brown Lane West if you get there early enough and at the back of my work for free or there's one around back that charges a fiver if everywhere else is full.
Aside from that you're looking at parking in the actual car parks around Elland road or on the estates near there (which is the other side of Elland Road/Beeston and I don't know that area too well except Elland Road).
Bus station is proper in town, but there's parking there for the market for around a couple quid an hour (used to be £1.60/hour think it's gone up, but coins or pay by phone only). It's the non multi-storey as the multi-storey near there is a NCP carpark and charges the earth. But if you park around there you're a bit far away from the stadium tbh, especially if you don't know the area.
Not too sure on the bus services, Leeds-18 would have to tell you that if you go down that route, but you may catch all the match traffic and the sunday shopping traffic if you do park in town (as it'll be closing time when it finishes).
Worst comes to worst there's parking in the carpark of my flat GRB and you can walk it (10 minute walk if you cut through the little park opposite), also a few pubs nearby and I'm probably gonna go in the dragon pub myself.

Will I be able to get any form of Shuttle bus kinda thing between the station and the ground? Heard it's a bit of a treck through a dodgy area.

Leeds-18 is your best bet to ask, but as far as I'm aware Beeston isn't that dodgy, it's not exactly the greatest looking place but it's not like it's Chapeltown (one of the true dodgy areas of Leeds, but again I've walked through Chapeltown at night after a night out fine, no different to being back home and going through a dodgy area of Newcastle or Sunderland at night).
    But definitely a trek!
If there's a few of you taxis are dirt cheap though, it would cost around £4.50-6 (might get stung as they will see you're not local and take you a little bit longer route for an extra quid) so might be worth sharing a taxi.

I use Amber cars as they're the biggest so have literally thousands of taxis so you can get one in five minutes - 01132636445

Cheers, there's only the two of us, most of my mates are on holiday, so Taxi may not be the cheapest.
Will have a look at Buses and if there's nout at the time I'll just walk it. Don't think I'll wear Toon top til I get into ground though, just in case I take a wrong turning haha

It's a small world - I go along Geldard road every day to get into work in the city centre! I was the same - did 3 yrs in Hyde Park then headingley for uni, then got out - as soon as you stop being a student they drive you mad and the landlords just take advantage, we lived in some dives. Bought a place here now and met my husband here so pretty settled in Leeds tbh - still miss the North East though, would like to move back some day.

The coach usually gets to the ground about two hours before KO giving us a bit time to go for a drink.

Honestly can say I've never heard of any trouble in Beeston, just heard part of it is just a run down area like.
We looked at a house in that area last week and it was just a new estate like where I live full of town houses and then a brand new apartment block so was actually quite nice, but I do know some of it is rundown!
Like I say it's one of them things I've walked through Chapeltown after been told walking back to town at night from there was a stupid idea and it was fine, always found the trouble was mainly outside the west Indian centre by out of it students letting their mouths go to to the locals or like people wandering off flashing their touchscreen phones whilst donning brand new nikes and what have you so obviously screaming rob me, but never heard anything on par with that about Beeston.

Amber cars are decent, or you can get the no1 bus from town on Park Row which stops in Beeston by the Co-op which about 5 min walk from the ground. Or you can get the no74 from town (bus stop out the back entrance of the train station where Weatherspoons is) and that's about a five min walk at the other end as well. But buses are quite expensive in Leeds, about £3-4 each so you might be better getting a taxi anyway

Nothing wrong with Beeston, I live 5 min from there and have loads of mates (families) who live there, it's fine. You don't really go into Beeston to get to the Ground anyway, it's just off the motorway.

Parking, for those asking - there's parking at the ground but it's quite expensive from what I've heard. A lot of people park near where I live (google map Whitehall Road and Geldard Road) and walk down because it's free, there's walkways through the estate (follow the crowd) and there's a good pub called the Dragon Inn there.

Yeah I met my girlfriend here about 3 years ago in September, so settled here as it's sortof halfway between our families since she's from around Worksop way.
Some of the stuff I can agree was horrific! My 2nd year of uni first time round I had to defer because my living conditions were that bad.
Hoping to save up money for a deposit next as the prices are cheap enough, just obviously raising the money in the first place and aye definitely feel the same, I get like a kid on Christmas when going home. :)

I reckon on the morning I'll stay at like the best local to my flat, the Dragon, (some of the pubs near me look too like a local pub where everyone would stare as you entered so I tend to avoid them), but will probably gradually move to ones local to Elland Road.
I'm honestly not sure if there's segregated pubs so will have to ask my Leeds mates as the only times I've been on matchdays is with them so obviously been in the home end.

Been to Leeds before and had no trouble getting into the pubs. Might have changed since the last time though.

Aye it's definitely the best pub around here, always busy on a lunch and evening from people passing through as well, don't think I've ever seen the car park empty and I pass it on a daily basis!

lol same here met my husband 5yrs ago at uni, and he's from Cambridge so Leeds works for us! We bought a new build and got help from the house builder with our deposit so only needed 5% ourselves, I'd recommend it although getting a mortgage on that deal was a hassle! But mortgage repayments are cheaper than rent bizarrely.

Yeah that's the thing, we're paying £550/month for our tiny 2 bed apartment and to get a 3-4 bed townhouse would cost around £650-700/month, judging that the house prices of the townhouses are around £130-60k, I can't see the mortgage being more expensive than that!
I think I would only get a new build around this area now after all the hassle I've had with landlord in the past on houses older than 10/15 years!

Yes, our mortgage is less than your rent and we're being screwed on a high interest rate at the moment, hopefully it will drop by about £200 when we revert to the tracker, so long as interest rates stay low. Other good thing about a new build is you get lots of stuff included so you don't have to worry about finding the money for it - carpets, decor, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer etc. And if you buy off plan you can choose your own kitchen and bathroom too.

Dragon Inn - we really like it, go about 1/2 times a week because it's cheap and everyone's really cheerful, plus the outside space is decent on a warm day.

Gone a bit off topic with this thread now oops
