don't actually think we've played that badly today - certainly better than against Reading. We're probably playing the team with the strongest squad in the championship & although we've lost (baring a miracle), there hasn't really been a lot between the teams - need to bounce back with a win in next game
Our best spell stallion but didnt really threaten did we? Very disappointed, bad tactics from the off. Norwich looked nervy for first10-15....
One great finish. One incredibly unfortunate set of ricochets. And we lose what was a bang average game of football. Disappointing, but Norwich took their opportunities and made any luck they got work for them. It's what happens when you're on a run of wins and things are going your way. Unfortunately we haven't had that feeling since December but we will bounce back and continue to pick up points between now and the final day. We move on and focus on the next match
Could not agree more South. We were too tentative at the start when Norwich did not look that confident. The goals came at perfect times for the yeller-greens as well. Only thing I am clinging on to is after the first defeat to them in August we went on fantastic run will need to do nearly as well now to make sure we at least get a play-off spot. Come on Town!
Wtf are you lot on, that was poor, they didnt have to get out of 2nd gear and it was all down to Micks negative sterile team selection/tactics!! Tabb=headless chicken and Skuse aint even that good!! Smith and Chambers are disasters wsiting to happen!!
He got booked for the only thing he done!! Difference today, they had players that can run with a ball, we didnt!!
His ability to play a pass and then stand and watch astounds me. It's as if he is happy to complete a pass and switch off. Simply not engaged enough in the game when we are in possession
I cant can't believe there are some on here who think we didn't play too badly. We were very limited and once again I question MM inability to change tactics, not sure if he has heard of tactics. The message seems to have been kick if as high and long as possible and see what happens. Today was a prime example of what happens when we play against a team that plays football------ clueless and that my friends is down to one man MM end of!!!!
I like Micks approach and honesty, but in truth he is probably a little limited and Norwich were brave going out getting that young Scottish manager paying off in spades at the moment.
We were beaten by a good side in great form in their backyard. Could've easily been a draw and then there would be a change of opinions. Too easy to blame Mick when it doesn't go to plan. And you can't say with any authority whether it'd make any difference if Mick implemented your ideas. Simple fact is.. We got beaten again by our rivals and it hurts. But Norwich should be beating us with the team they have. Whatever, I'm still positive.
Back in August I thought it should have been a draw,(and i got ridiculed for it) not today. We were beaten hands down. We weren't very good anywhere on the field but it was the lack of midfield that really hurt us, couldn't protect the back 4 or supply the front 2. In Skuse and Chaplow we had players who would do one thing and stop to watch and having central midfielder on the 'wings' mean there was no attacking momentum from midfield. Murphy and Sears had to work hard for any scraps. The one chance we had was crafted by those two. Bishop may get bullied out of some games but having someone willing to have, and do something with, the ball at his feet is essential in a game like this. That's what hoolahan did, that sucked all the belief and momentum out of our game when Johnson hit that unstoppable strike to finish the move. I do agree that Norwich should be beating us anyway and it highlights what a poor manager Houghton was for them but the way we played today made it easy for them.
Bullshit! I dont mind losing if you give it a damn good go, Mick set up to defend and cintinues to play without any pace or flair, he has his favourites and will accomodate them no matter what!!
Mick's hoofball has got us out of the **** as far as League One goes, but we need to be playing football if we want to be a top flight team. Absoluely pathetic from the first goal onward, an embarrassment. I want to see a man in the dugout with a bit of passion and some proper goals, not someone who's happy with collecting his pay cheque each week.
What a disappointment. As Spanish quite rightly said, we cannot take any positives out of that performance. There was uncertain and, at times, sloppy defending, persistence fouling, a severe lack of creativity and clear cut chances, an unhealthy over-reliance on long balls, the declining form of Daryl Murphy (who was once again anonymous), and our lack of squad strength in depth as a result of limited finances. Now the mitigating factors are Norwich, as much as it pains me to say it, have benefited from recent Premier League experience, have a healthy financial status, a forward-thinking, progressive young manager, and an established, strong squad that should, on paper, be among the favourites for promotion. Not only that, they're the form team in this division. Maybe I'm being a bit pessimistic, considering the wounds from the recent derby day defeat are still fresh, but our form in 2015 has suggested to me that clubs have figured us out. Considering our team, on-field investment, and style of play, it was probably always a question of 'when' not 'if' we were going to come into some bad form and slip down the table. Richard Chaplow, Cole Skuse, Jay Tabb, and Luke Varney do not provide a consistent quality going forward. The two loanees have underlined the lack of investment and our failure to sign good, creative players. The last time we lost to Norwich, we went on a great run of form, I'm not hopeful we'll embark on a similar run of results. We have good players in this squad and, in Mick McCarthy, we arguably have one of the division's better managers, but it's clear he needs investment and also needs to be big enough to realise that playing direct football, with a lack of a credible creative outlet, whilst shackled to an arcane 4-4-2 formation, is not going to produce many points this season. No matter what some of the naysayers argue on here, we've had a much improved season with some fantastic results, but it would be a shame to squander a play off place this term after our previous form. Hopefully our squad can display the obvious team spirit within the club to turn around our fortunes and inflict some surprising results this month.
I thought we did give it a go... Had more corners and shots on target than they did, Sears going very close. Throwing bodies forward for set pieces. That's why Skuse needed to be there, no? Norwich weren't that great today but a bit of quality and a bit of luck was enough for them. Don't over think it.
