Not that I want to get this to a name change debate, because I'm bored to tears with it, but interestingly I was in Torquay (just outside of Melbourne) over the weekend and I was wearing my city shirt out to watch some of the footie. 3 separate people came over and used it as a talking point.... 3 people knew it was a Hull shirt, but all 3 came over and asked "is that a Hull Tigers shirt?" and then 2 proceeded to ask my thoughts on Thudd and the other one knew about Richard Garcia. Interesting that down under a lot of people already know us as Hull Tigers....

Im telling you, the only people who think its worthy of piss taking is the minority of our own fans. All of the negativity about it has come from them.

No one else gives a ****. Hull Tigers sounds cool, and unique. Instant brand recognition globally.

Fortunately, it's never going to happen and as soon as some common sense is restored, all the stealth rebranding will be reversed.

I have tried to work out what point you are trying to make and its relevance to renaming our football club but cannot come up with anything.

It's nearly as good as when Ehab used the example of Everton getting a new sponsorship deal without changing their name, to prove the value of a name change.

I pointed out that you can get instant brand recognition globally without necessarily using your "official" full name. As, for example, Coca Cola have done with the word "Coke".

I hope this clarifies the issue for you.

3 out of 3 called it Hull Tigers !!!! i call that bullshit. No matter which channel or stream people watch the Premier League we are still called Hull City by the commentators. How or where would they get the Hull Tigers idea from ?

I posted this reply to Tigerlad this morning but my reply got merged in with his post. Stlll find it hard to believe at the other side of the world 3 out of 3 see a Hull City shirt and link it to Hull Tigers.

It bears no relation to the name change issue.

Coke is short for Coca - in the same way that West Brom is short for West Bromwich Albion and then we come onto your logic ---Hull Tigers is short for Hull City - do you see how stupid that sounds?

By logic I wouldn't see how something sounds, I'd hear it. But I take your point. However, my point was not about abbreviation, but about the fact that publicity can be gleaned from a nickname as well as a full title. Not all nicknames are shorter than the full title.
