personally.. i could see a possible 4 3 3 formation for adkins now in the championship with spider just behind deano and corky.. and lallana oxo and lambert up front
been travelling back home from oooop north (well midlands realy) so just seen this news. Absolutely brilliant signing. Young player on a long deal, and in competition with other clubs, showing NA and NC can sell the opportunities that SFC can offer to the best young talent available. Also, given the fact that Arsenal seem to be losing half their squad, i cant see Oxo being keen to go there! This is another statement of intent from the club, but I am sure that the echo will major on car park charges!!
Great news, This is the one I was hoping for most, Undoubtedly adds quality to the squad and his versetility is an added bonus,
Why does everyone hate Hammond? Why not play Cork and Deano in midfield, with Morgan sitting behind, and Lambert alone up front? That seems reasonable, maybe. Hammond is our current captain after all.
It appears Burnley are saying that they wouldn't go above their £15k per week maximum wage limit to land Cork, with rumours he's on £20k at Saints.
May be true.. Lallana and Lambert are rumoured to be on that. Remember we save a lot because AOC is on peanuts with gobstoppers as a win bonus!
Ha,ha, just read this on another forum. A couple of Burnley fans.............. The first guy's first sentence seems to make sense, the 2nd guy has mistaken Burnley for Barca! minibeast says July 7, 2011 8:31pm "I am a burnley fan and i am disgusting. Burnley are a massivley bigger club than southampton and burnley offer him everything he needs. some good players guaranteed footy. everything. and anyway, southampton were in league1 about 2 months ago and i hope some time he'll come to his senses and change his mind. He only got where he i by playing for Burnley. he played in the premier league and had an amazing season last year but hopefully we can get another good midfielder. he fitted into the squad pefectly and all i can say is hes wrong. come back jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" & insideman says July 8, 2011 8:10am "What a joke! I am gutted. Corky was class for Burnley last season. Why would he choose a tin pot club over us? We have bigger and more passionate support. Play better football. The Saints are likely to get relegated while we are in the frame for the autos. This is plain wrong. Bad move Jack."
I'm sure there are some equally embarrassing Saints fans. Anyway us and Burnley have something in common, we have both had to shut up Eddie Mitchell. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/burnley/9532564.stm
The important thing is that Burnley fans are gutted with him leaving. Thus showing he is a good player.
When you think of £50k for Nolan, £40k for Nugent, even more for some players who come down and aren't shifted, is £20k really that bad for someone who did very well last season? Premier League wages have filtered down to the Championship even more so since we were last there. Should he do well, which I have no doubt that he will, I wouldn't grudge him £20k.
I would imagine that the £20k a week thing will be based on team perfomance and his contribution (appearances)... well I'd hope.
Surprised this move took so long but am absolutely delighted. Thought he was class when he had his loan spell with us in 2008, so i'm eagerly awaiting how he'll fare now. Happy days!
Burnley fans are just upset that their club could not sign a very useful player. Oh, and they are disgusting, thats got to string a bit.
Know nothing about Burnley or their club, so had to google them. Obviously a proud history, but in recent times have languished at the bottom of the FL and nearly ended up in the conference. They are now in the same league as us after relegation, so where does anyone come off calling us tinpot. Mustn't judge a club by one moron, but agree with earlier poster that it indicates how impressed they were with OUR midfielder, Cork.
