Posted this on my own board and it statred a good debate thought I would spread it to others especially yours after the way the Sunbehaved to you and your City.

News of the World and Sky Sports
I am i alone in thinking about ditching Sky as a result of the activities of the News of the World over the taping of phones of victims of crime?

Basically I can not see how the Murdoch press can be seen as a fit and proper organisation to own and run media out lets in the country.

The footballing aspect of this is that if we all dump Sky, then Sky dumps footbal what happens to the income to the clubs.

A number of high profile companies have already indicated that they will not advertise in the papers any more. Evebn with this hanging over them the Sun hid the story away on the inside pages and the times although it ran the story on the front page played it down more that the other papers. So much for a free press!

The only publication I would miss for acurate reporting would be the Times the rest of the Murdoch press are rubish at getting their fact right any way.

We found out in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster what Murdoch's dispicable hacks were/are capable of its a pity its taken until now for everyone else to catch on.

I hope all involved are jailed like they deserve to be.

The media always temper their fury at each other. It's usually for show. Ditto advertisers. They'll be back.

I can't see how Rebekah Wade can go on, though. Either she knew, which is despicable, or more likely there was a policy of 'don't ask, don't tell' about sources, which doesn't excuse her as irresponsible and incompetent at the very least.

    Agreed General.

If Wade did know then she is complicit. If she did not know then she has failed in her managerial responsibility. Either way she has to fall upon her sword.

I'm no media expert but I was taught that 'big' stories generally required 3 independant confirmations. The story and the confirmations then go to editorial review - where the confirmations would have to be revealed. So somebody in charge knew!

    Course they all bloody knew!

They're as guilty as the man on the grassy knoll.

If you haven't done it already, there's an online petition which I've signed in an attempt to block Murdoch's latest attempt at world domination.

I'd post a link but I can't access it from work, I signed it at home.

There's some interesting parliamentary debate going on because some MPs are up to their necks in cosiness with the likes of Wade and other editors. Whether you loathe Piers Morgan or just despise him his diaries are a good read on the symbiotic relationship the tabs have with politicians. The former NotW editor Andy Coulsen lording over phone-tapping he had no clue about then went to work for Cameron as his Alistair Campbell.

Some MPs are sticking up for Rebekah Wade and there's a whiff of fear about what she's got on them all.

Then there's the Met bring nut-deep in it all but still the ones investigating their own cover-ups and bribe-taking.

Time for a Daily Mail front page on benefit scroungers.

Of course it is. However, its going to be interesting to see just how wide the investigation goes. I think there may well be more and bigger fish to fry.

They must have a lot to hide if they are willing to do something as drastic as that in order to get the public of their back.

Murdoch sacrificed the NOTW to try and sway the government into giving News International the right buy BskyB in its entirity(they are waiting on the decision).

They still have the s*n,the times and the sunday times and it was on the news earlier that 2 days ago they registered the sundays*n domain.

So they'll just put the lying rag out an extra day a week to take NOTW's place.

They are cunning, sly b*stards and should be thrown in jail.
