Fair, I don't dislike the Foo Fighters, I just really liked the latest First Aid Kit album.

Do the people getting bands together normally win the awards? Has Michael Eavis won one?

That's been the same for the past 50 years or so, in fact it was probably more true decades ago than it is now.

Its also worked to the benefit of some 'real' bands over the past few years as well, Biffy Clyro, Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood, Kasabian...etc.

I'd say the charts are less important than they've ever been now, with spotify and downloads people can listen to what they want, when they want and bands are really benefiting from that.

Bands have 10's of millions of streams on spotify and never make the Top 100 in the singles charts.

I dont think there's any denying that. Other than Uptown Funk, which I somehow know, I couldnt name you a song that has been number 1 in the past 12 months.

Their worth a listen, two Swedish sisters making folk/pop music, although it might not be your cup of tea.

"Some" barely any. I think Biffy Clyro, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian actually came about just as the times of decent bands being in the charts came to an end. Funnily enough I think Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys most recent albums are awful, and now they're getting played on Radio 1 <laugh> typical.

I blame Eavis for Kasabian actually. He put them on as an unknown festival opener and then they went ballistic, same as he did for The Darkness. That's enough of a reason not to give him an award...

I don't think staging an event in a field in England really compares with an event watched by 1.9 billion people.

It's not 'staging an event in a field' is it? It's establishing the world's most famous (almost) annual music festival and keeping it running for 40 years. Or by that logic is Band Aid 'staging an event in a stadium'?

Although not their best work, AM is certainly not awful.

Not a massive Kasabian fan, bar one or two tunes, so haven't heard much of 48:13. I thought they were pretty good at Glastonbury last year though.

It really is awful, compared to the others it's **** and Alex Turner has turned into a twat.

As for Kasabian I don't mind them actually but they're ridiculously over-rated and think they're a lot better than they are.

The Brits are not for me - neither is chart music (not since 1985, in fact). Who wins the awards is totally irrelevant to me, and I don't watch as a result.

What I don't quite get is the evident frustration of so many on here. Presumably Morrissey, Jagger etc aren't exactly fussed about not winning Brits?

I had a girlfriend over here some time ago who ditched me because of my obsession for The Monkees. I didn't believe her at first - and then I saw her face! (I hate meself).

Glastonbury is obviously a big festival, nowhere near the biggest, but it's big all the same(certainly the biggest held in a field), but it's still not the same as the worlds biggest ever single music event.

Eavis might get the award one year anyway.
