Mackem in peace here lads, whilst I'm over the moon about our new signings and really looking forward to the derby game, am I alone in saying that its come too early in the season for both of us..
Both teams have new players and I would have liked the games to be around Xmas time, ideally one on boxing day and one on new years day, thats is the time of the season when the wheat gets sorted from the chaff and I just think it would be more interesting then, better atmosphere, everything.
Anyway I won't wish you the best of luck, I'm sure you'll understand why.

Agree, I'd have a draw now as a loss could be catastrophic to a season so early. Also I dont think Ben Arfa will be ready to start so I'd rather it was at a time when he's match sharp.

I think there's going to be a lot of cautious play as the players will still be getting used to eachother, don't see it being a classic. A boring 3-0 to us.

It's nearly a year on! He would have had a whole pre season of training every day and all the pre season matches. And a game against Arsenal. He better be ready!

As someone pointed out on the other thread though, a few 45 mins against American teams isnt enough to get you match sharp. He's fit but he isnt ready to start games yet. Maybe he will start in the derby, who knows.

Although after all he's been talked up, I'm looking forward to Sessegnon v Ben Arfa :D

I know what you mean, October last year gave both our new players time to adapt and improve the squads overall sharpness and fitness.

Rep for this - thought I was the only one who thought this as per comments on the Ben Arfa article earlier. A few friendlies (many of which he'll be on the bench) is in no way meaning he'll be ready to start in full bloodied PL matches at the start of the season after what will be about 10 months out with a career threatening injury.

As for the derby dates, Xmas would make sense but the FA don't do common sense.

Far too early, it can take foreign players quite some time to adapt to the premiership, I can always remember when Enrique arrived and the lads around me kept saying how he was referred to as the "Bull" he was hardly that. Coloccini on his own admission found it really hard. We've also lost Nolan, yes we've already said about his physical capabilities, but hugely influential none the less. With regards Sunderland, several new signings so we'll have to wait and see.

Seriously looks like a top, top player! He got 3 goals in his last 5 games too once he'd got himself fully fit and got a few assists too. What makes you think Ben Arfa is going to be a world beater? Is 3 games really enough evidence to say he's going to be amazing? He did look good and scored a screamer but he's still pretty much untested in the prem.

Have a look at this video... http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xawex9_ben-arfa-vs-sessegnon-avantage-sess_sport

    Avantage. Sessegnon. :)

  18. I don't think a loss will automatically **** either of us over. You were pretty much dominated in both games and each time we gave you a thumping you actually improved for a while.
