I am sure we can do it. We were really on top at the beginning of the last game. If we can bring that form and sustain it - and God forbid convert a couple of chances - then it is in the balance
It's only Europa now that is giving us fixture issues. There is 1 game to play in the League cup whatever happens and we catch up the missed league game next Saturday cause we're out of the FA Cup, so not pile up at all if we lose on Thursday.
After a weekend featuring Allarshyte showing his ignorance of what constitutes a penalty, as well as Moron's 27-minute soliloquy about anything other than dropping two points to Burnley, isn't it time post match interviewers started calling them on their crap, rather than let them paint whichever version of events is most convenient to them?
It's starting to really annoy me. Some managers are being treated far too leniently, because the press are afraid that they're going to refuse interviews.
I quite enjoy Allarshite getting his blood pressure dangerously high. And Morinho's rants are good value too ( although, in this case, he has a valid point) let it continue, I say.
I don't bother with what others say, I listen to the match on my Squeezebox internet radio which picks up EVERY radio station in the world and just concentrate on what Poch says after the match. Once the match is over the opinions of the others are irrelevant. I must admit I like watching fanzone and those boys going wild.
West Ham fans have been reported to the police by Kevin Kilbane, following some dodgy chants about Harry Kane. "He talks like a mong", is acceptable to them, apparently. And this is following their piss-take of Chelsea fans prior to the game: All clubs have their share of idiots, I guess.
The EPL is the world's most watched league and it's a shame these idiots give it a bad name. So PNP, what are your views on the upcoming matches?
Harry Kane was lip read at the end of the game, showing exactly what he and the side are about this season: "Never give up, never ****ing give up!" Damn right.
Two tough games, TMT. Season defining. We need to be 100% for the final and I think resting the players for the midweek trip is the way to go. I think we risk losing both if we chuck everything at the Fiorentina game, as it's a hard one and some players will be distracted.
My Cousin showed me that Kane clip after the match, absolutely loved it. Really does epitomise what Poch is drilling into the players. Dier credited Poch in his BBC interview too.
Speaking of crediting Pochettino, Lallana was once again extremely complimentary towards him in an interview he gave before the Liverpool/Saints match. His players clearly hold him in high regard indeed.
I'd go for the two striker option for the EL PNP because we have to treat the next match in whatever competition as the priority. To progress in the EL we MUST score.
Being outside the ground before the game was like a throwback into the 90's with a mounted police escort taking their fans down the High Road to the away end. Some of their chants were vile and far too crude to post on here. Quite frankly I hope they get the book thrown at them, they deserve every piece of criticism that comes their way.
What I can't understand is why everyone treats these incidents as a surprise when they're caught on camera. What summed it up for me was the chat on Sunday Supplement about it. I know I'm always going on about that show but it highlighted how removed from things that journalists can be. There was talk of how it's not a football problem as much as it is societal(passing the buck which always seems to happen) and playing down the incident slightly because they don't experience the racism, homophobia and other behaviour at games(no wonder when they travel up well before a game and sit in the press area). Jason Burt had it spot on that these incidents are rare primarily because there's such good footage of them. Anyone that's surprised by the recent footage is simply living under a rock, they happen all the time and go under the radar unless there's focus on it. You could go on Youtube and find dozens of videos taken by fans with this kind of chanting in it from a few years ago that simply never got reported on becuase there wasn't the spotlight on racism in football at the time. There's also the point that Burt raised talking about these fans knowing what they can get away with too. The Anton Ferdinand chants by some Chelsea fans were pretty thinly veiled but the incident was skirted over pretty quickly and without much discussion. The whitewash of West Ham fans a couple of years ago was a disgrace too. 2 fans cautioned for Nazi salutes, hundreds singing "Adolf Hitler, he's coming for you" audibly and what happens? One fan gets a life ban and the club gets off for apparently having done enough to try and prevent it prior to the game with a few emails to their supporters calling for respect. What a joke.
It's much harder for us to win the Europa than to finish top four. There are four other clubs challenging for third and fourth spot of which we have worse players than two, about the same as one and better than the fourth. If we currently had the same number of points and equal players the chance would be 2 in 5 and I think it is about half that in practice so I reckon we have about a one in five chance of being in the top four. To win the Europa we need to win five successive ties against clubs who are about as good as us that's about a one in 32 shot so 6 times worse.
Sorry for my age but what is a mong? Oh!The newshounds like all the managers bullcrap. It fills their empty newspapers!
