Mate, he looked lost for a while after coming back from injury. I don't think he looked good at all. Last couple of weeks, looks himself again.
Giacch over Alvarez eight days a week for me, if fit. If not I still would be reluctant to play Alvarez. Don't like him, Vergini or Jones in the team at the minute. They'd be bench warmers if we had fully fit squad.
Defoe needs someone like him in the team. He would see Defoe's runs as they begin and not when the defender has realised and caught up with him.
Let's face it, we're going to set up in defensive mode and hope we can keep them at bay in the first half. They'll score early in the second (law of averages), we'll chase the game and lose 3-0.
Here's my ideal: -----------Pants Rev. John Wes. PVA ----------Catts Seb AJ------- Giacch ------Connor --------------JD Jermain prefers a partner but Connor can push up alongside him if needed. Giacch and AJ providing the ammunition is the best we've got. Rodwell should push for a spot in the deep two, keep the pressure on Seb and cover Catts suspension/injury. Gomez could play behind the striker reasonably well, Alvarez could fill any of those 3 births. One thing I think we could do better is get the fullbacks higher up the pitch. Rev and PVA are very capable attackers and I can't understand why they on average only get to the byline once or twice a game. Two deep midfielders give insurance for them to bomb on.
I've got a ticket for this but in the Stretford End again with me brother. Will be delighted with a point but I've got a gut feeling that's it's not going to go well...
Ha, I was in with them last season when Bardsley slotted in the 119th minute and they were fair enough about that. Got a couple of people pushed into me when Rafael missed that pen but that's as bad as it got
