I'm not too sure on the anti United thread... If we've got a guest who might be looking to join and they see the anti United thread and the Liverpool and United fans abusing each other, it might put people off. It could be the first impression they get of the Liverpool section and I personally feel that good articles will attract new members rather than Liverpool and United abusing each other.

    It's just my opinion though.

I don't think the United v Pool thread is a good idea. We want, I want, people to refrain from the fighting. Making it okay in that thread would mean it would spill over to other threads. Not needed. I'm happy dealing with it as it comes.

    I agree with everthing else.

The fact that there is 1 thread on Rumours and Transfers, a topic that can spark multiple debates about various different subjects within the category, screams directory? Already it is 28 pages long and we are still over 7 weeks will the end of august! With the rise and rise in members, and as transfer rumours heat up, the page is going to become far messier than it already is.

'Liverpool FC' is just too vast a topic to host every thread relating to it. There ought to be a another tier of filtering. The Rumours and Transfers thread would become a folder, its contents would see multiple threads on all the different transfer targets, players to sell, tranfer policy, kitty, done deals and pipe dreams. The format would be easier to navigate, the content would be easy to manage and newcomers wouldn't be faced with a 28 page 'catch up'. The new stadium, youth team and behind the scenes could also form directories. Changing the whole face of the forum does need a fair bit of research though; when considering the directory approach, you have to be careful it doesn't become too diluted - loads of directories with not many threads. Think of every possible subject that could make a directory then work out how many new threads are started, and how many replies each get, over a certain period. Not enough = misc.

Maybe a split view - i.e. a few directories at the top - 3 or 4 say - and below are the miscellaneous. This way you don't arrive to almost page half full of transfer rumours during summer and the same with match day/squad and formation during the season. The diretories at the top needn't take up much space, however the content below would be different and individual - if it isn't it belongs in a directory ;o) At the time of writing 7 of the 19 non-stickies relate to transfers, are we sure a single thread for rumors and transfers is working?

Whichever one we choose someone won't like it- human nature.
I think I'm leaning towards the compromise solution but there's bound to be some people who don't like that either.
Sorry, couldn't vote for 1st or 2nd option because of above.
And I'm not a Manc so 3rd is out as well.

i like the rumours and transfers thread meself, and the news thread but then i can get both myself. the pub thread is vital.

the probelm with the thread with links is you don't get to the last comment so you've added about three extra clicks to getting to where one watns to go which is slightly annoying.

    Totally agree.

Let's at least try and be a shining beacon and lead by example.

I still wouldn't piss on a manc if he was on fire, so there's no conflict of interest <laugh>

Other messageboards have had these debates and they can drag on, simply because the dictatorial personalities drift off and ditherers go over and over the subject ad infinitum. Just a warning.

Other messageboards have folder systems. Even the Stoner Forum can organise them. They've evolved that way. They work.

LFC Today and Rumours & Transfers definitely apply. I'd also like to renew my call for an Outside Now forum for fights with Mancs, Bitters and Chavs. It could hold stories we like about their clubs. Y'know, sex scandals, drug tests, bond issues and the like. It could be called the KPR Gate.

The pub should be a folder for general chat. I think the board's General Chat forum has been largely discredited and ignored by most of us but clearly there's a demand for music threads, etc.

Stickies by their nature don't get updated as often as subjects du jour. Hot topics get stickied while they're hot anyway just by being top of the forum. The Welcome thread, Photoshop and possibly the song thread are the only regular ones I can think of which seem better as stickies than folders.
