Just said on MOTD. We have just kept 5 clean sheets in a row since 1985. But even our solid defense under Rafa achieved that.

Our defense has really turned it around!

    On wards and upwards.

Just been over there on their rival thread, left a reply to Christine, the dope is whinging about penalty decisions in our favour and referees in our back pockets, he must have forgotten the Fergie years already.<doh>

    Its unbeleivable

however i would point out that in 2005/06 rafa went ten games witout a goal so this stat of 5 away clean sheets is a rather interesting but kind of one off type stat. As always i feel context is far more enlightening than simple stat

our last games in the league have been

Burnley A 1-0 ..................... clean sheet away. decent game

Swansea City H 4-1........... they came for a draw and got handed thier heads. they played a game unsuited to them.
Leicester City H 2-2........... 2-0 up and threw game away. two bad goals

Sunderland A 1-0............... they set up for 0-0, if they were there still they would not have scored and many others have got clean sheet of this lot

Aston Villa A 2-0............... Again good result but they didn't press us and were after the draw

West Ham United H 2-0.... Prob most impressive result clean sheet and revenge on fat sam's grinning mug
Everton A 0-0.................... Everton were after the draw <whistle>
Tottenham Hotspur H 3-2..late win, good result but could have gone either way and defence under pressure
Southampton A 2-0.............In fairness rode out luck... a lot... deffo pen not given and 2/3 chances missed

All in all.. the 5 away clean sheets... 3 were against teams who have difficulty scoring anyway. Our clean sheet v west ham actually at home for me was a better result for us.

The context is over all its been better but can still improve. Can and sahko have done a good job coming in. Skertl and mingolet have improved in the current set up. Lucas came in and help a lot and now is injured and the run is still going.

turned a corner? wellllllll.... I would have expected a side wanting 4th to get these a lot of these results realistically so.... I'm grateful for the big 3 points this weekend.

  14. Yeah, some stats are great, especially clean sheet and goals scored figures but they can be manipulated ridiculously. If there are more than one contribution the the stat then its a twisted logic kind of thing.
