Great thread......... Sorry but back to cyclists, The main road between Waterford and Tramore had cycle lanes added a couple of years ago on both sides of the road and each cycle lane is wide enough to drive a car........now what happens when you get 3 or 4 cyclists riding together they take up the whole fecking cycle lane plus part of the road that I'm driving on forcing cars to cross the central white lines to pass them out into oncoming traffic......barstewards.......the number of times I thought about swerving into them.......... Self service tills in supermarkets, these are peoples jobs the likes of Tesco are taking away........ X Factor People who post on here when pissed........ TV Schedulers......crap tv during the week then put 4 or 5 decent programmes on at the same time on Sunday evening........
Blame culture, whiplash, PPI, Industrial Deafness. Any excuse to screw over an insurance company thereby costing everyone money. The misuse of compensation. People being wholly unable and unwilling to take responsibility for themselves. The whole industry surrounding accident management encouraging people to make entirely false compensation claims.
We have that option at Home Depot and one grocery supermarket chain - they do work well if you only have a few items and are looking for a quick exit, rather than enduring long line-ups at the cashiers. I guess the same could be said regarding self-serve petrol/gas stations providing a cheaper fuel price, versus full service attendants, who also (sometimes) clean your windows, check your oil etc. I like the pumps where you just swipe your credit card, pump your gas, get your receipt and are off & away to the races.
We'll have to agree to disagree. He was actually quite good on the guitar and had a fair bit of musicality. I don't think he had an ordinary voice.
Had a decent voice, but nowhere near Eddie Cochran for a rocker, who could sing, write and produce a song, c'mon everybody
Wow, that brings back some memories from 1977. I drove that road regularly on the way out to the coast road and on to Dungarvan. I remember it was lined with yellow broom and gorse bushes in the spring. We lived in an old coach house about 200 yards from Woodstown beach, an idyllic setting for the short time we were there...
DJs - why is it these guys are treated as if they have huge musical talent when all they seem to be doing is putting a record or two on? Surely, anyone with a modicum of a sense of timing and mostly working upper limbs is entirely capable of being a successful DJ.
No problem, here you go - only in Canada! Adult diapers are demonstrated by three grown men in this ad for Canadian television channel Scream TV. These are just what you need for those unexpected moments of horror. please log in to view this image
Girls working in shops who are much younger than me who call me dear or love. Only allowable from anyone over 50.
60 second news updates. Whoever thought of this clearly has goldfish like tendencies and they're usually filled with pap. Like twitter, the world seems to be moving towards an ideal of everything being nothing more than a headline or soundbite. I also hate anything unnecessarily long. How many hours have I wasted in courses or meetings that could be reduced to a small factsheet or a five minute synopsis. There's an optimal length for these things.
Employee engagement initiatives. Facebook - the spawn of placing importance on numbers of friends who, in reality, are the vaguest acquaintances. Users mostly seem to spam all with inane food choices. Motorists who get randomly angry about everything. Motorists who sit in their warm cars but have no consideration for rain sodden pedestrians. People who swear loudly on trains (and in public) without provocation. The banning of e-cigarettes on trains, in certain pubs and outside shopping centres (really) with the excuse that people witnessing others using smoking cessation aids might take up the real thing.
Blame culture is an interesting one, IWAWR. I used to report to a CEO who was dead set on having a No-Blame Culture, which meant that every time the business cocked up we had inquest upon inquest, resulting in re-hashing procedure after procedure, when it was glaringly obvious that the Operations Director was completely incompetent. The thing was the Ops Director was his only appointment, the rest of us were inherited by the CEO, so sacking the useless lump of lard was obviously an admission of his own failure. One year I presided over a 20% increase in sales and the implementation of a new computer system, whilst only taking 2 days leave to get married (because of work commitments), following which the CEO declined to increase my pay as I had "failed to transform the business". The man was a complete arsehole.
I'll have to learn sign language if I can't say .... mate. It's an Aussie thing ........... maaaaaaaaaaaaate! We even have a television channel called 73Mate.
