This system only works with pace upfront, so it wont work with just Balotelli or Lambert. If Sturridge is not fit to start then it has to beSterling.

Surely we should start Balo if we're looking to rest Sturridge. We've selected a team which has no striker but this time we have two on the bench.

If this is meant to be 'punishment' for Balo then it's pathetic.

Brenda's lapdog starts again, Why isn't Coutinho given a rest, been far from his brilliant best, badly in need of a rest. I don't mind Lovren in defense, But Allen and Hendo is a ****ing awful Midfield.

Looks like we're trying to stretch play and not get into a battle in the middle which makes a certain amount of sense.

This is such a defensive cautious formation. Don't we need a win? Hope Rodgers doesn't regret it.

We then lose our fluidity and movement, no way should he start at the moment.

Southampton won't play to attack. They will let us have the ball and catch us by a set piece.

Then what teams can he play against then? This just says to me that he was in the wrong for scoring a penalty so we pick a winger to play as striker.

Balo can hold the ball up, all Sterling can do is run behind the defence we ask him to do anything else he can't.

Not their usual style though and with them being at home I expect them to attack us, they want to control the play in the middle of the park usually I think we're set up to use Markovic and Ibe a lot.

    Not encouraged by that team.

1 of Markovic or Ibe on the wrong side. Lovren at LCB where he's been awful.
No CF despite having 3 on the bench...

At the moment he's doing a good job from the bench but not so much as we should start him imo. I'd rather the pace and movement of Sterling over him at this point and hopefully Studge can come on if needed.

If needed we can change the formation and bring Balo and Studge on but hopefully we wont need to.

Well he won't bring both of them on unless we're desperate. Unless were only looking to rest Sturridge and not use him at all then Balo has been dropped.

Cracking job Brenda. Playing Lovren to prove a point. Balotelli deserves to start.

    We'll lose this I think.

With 2 of the 3 being next to useless I'd go with Sterling and get Studge on at some point. It'll be interesting to see if Lovren can fit into the back 3 as he's been poor but in a pairing.

We've seen throughout the season he is terrible when playing alone upfront, he needs a partner but the only suitable partner is currently on the bench so there's not much point starting him as he doesn't suit the formation that has got us so much recent success either. He's stuck to a bench role at the moment until we start playing with 2 up top.

As far as I'm concerned balotelli as gone from "Completely useless" to "decent impact sub". I'm yet to see enough from him to convince me that he can do a job for 90 mins though

Balo hasn't done enough to start imo but if we are in the **** then changing the formation and both on is a good option to have.

Well Lovren was 'completely useless' to 'average sub' and now he's 'straight back in the team for 90 mins.'
