Must the the longest this board has been in ages without receiving a post of some bollocks or other from JWM or Guru. Must be ****ting themselves at the realisation their little jaunt above us in the table is all but over, very possibly ended next Sunday (if not before).

    Lovely isn't it?

JWM must be half way through his second bottle of scotch by now, bless him.

The have dissapeared up their own arses I suspect.

I said weeks ago that we are coming for them and got shot down. We have the squad AND the manager now. Nothing's for certain but I can slowly feel the excitement and positive energy returning to NCFC after the Hughton disaster and to lesser extent Adams.

    Bring on anyone now.

What a weekend! We win away at Watford which on paper was very tricky while Boro lose to Leeds (totally unexpected), Bournemouth go down as do Ipswich and all of a sudden the gap is within touching distance. All looking good and nervous times for those above us. Our momentum is now very impressive!

Especially when you realise we've picked up 19 points from 8 games and 2 of those were away to sides above us in the league - that's title winning return (NOT that I think we will win the title), but I'm becoming more confident that we may yet sneak 2nd!!! <ok>

I think they're probably scratching their heads over their stats for the season and wondering whether hoofball might only get them so far:

Ipswich Town Comparative Stats Championship 14/15 to date
average 15 shots per game - 7th in the league
    49.2% possession - 16th in the league
Pass completion 66% - 24th in the league
5 shots on target per game - 4th in the league
Attempted dribbles per game 4.5 - 24th in the league
Long balls per game 96 - 1st in the league
Ball in opposition half - 32% - 1st in the league

    If Carlsberg did hoofball?

    Please define Long Ball Rob.

Does a pass have to be a certain distance to be described as a long ball and if so can you please provide the designated distance... Thanks.

Surely it's a pass from defence to attack, by-passing midfield, but then, I was educated in Suffolk, so what do I know?

Any argument you are trying to create is totally undone by the completed pass stat, being the worst in the league. Combined with being top for long balls, it kind of suggests the majority of those 'long balls' are little more than up-pitch hoofs <ok>

Vaguely recalling the opta definition, a long pass is played to a particular team-mate, where they should normally have a high chance of retaining possession if executed properly.
A long ball is played into areas, not at particular players, such as hoofs up for a striker to compete with centre backs for a knockdown, or balls played into channels to be chased.
