I was driving (OK, bumbling) along the A29 just after midday today and, if the track at Fontwell is anything like the farmland on both sides of the road, you'd say there was practically no chance of racing tomorrow. Certainly, if you intend to put time and effort into analysing the card, it would be sensible to wait until after the inevitable early morning inspection.
Where did ya hear that ste? Sad to hear that as he was a favourite of mine over the years but at the same time he seems to have lost interest in being a racehorse which can happen and I hope he has a happy retirement wherever he winds up.
Hopefully Mossey Joe has a happy retirement. I heard a while back that he just isn't in love with the game any more and correct decision by connections. Absolute shame that he never really achieved what he should have in terms of his ability. He had an absolutely monstrous engine but was unfortunately plagued with a few things throughout his career and in a different life I think he would have multiple Graded races to his name.
Max Dynamite and Up for Review double at Naas for me works out about 7/2. Not original but a win is a win - I hope!
2.50 Naas - EMPIRE OF DIRT - 6/1 Looked good indeed when having the race at his mercy before he fell lto on a good mark and don't let him wearing the "second string blue cap" put you off will beat his rival 3.50 Naas - TWINLIGHT - 9/4
Recommend buying today's racing post, fantastic interview with JT McNamara .Really is Alistair Down at his very best
Any old buggers on here turning 50 this month or any even older buggers celebrating 50 years of marriage this month? If so, Fontwell are giving free admission to the first 50 who can provide evidence. So come on fellas, tell your carers that you fancy the day out
Couldn't resist Stick!! BTW, can you remember where you were when man first discovered fire?! Toppy - indeed it has flown around quickly. I have found since I first started watching racing in 2004 that the months drag from April as I don't have any particular interest in flat racing. Come Sept/Oct though, the months fly by and it's over and done fairly quickly - much like my bedroom Olympics!! Once the Friday of the Festival is over, I tend to feel what I can only describe as a twinge of sadness, knowing that it will be another year for the magic to happen again.
Have sponged Boris' ponies and was going to do the same with Sticks but that's now a non-runner so I've sided with Mr Mcgregor in the same race and put the lot in a Yankee. Good luck all!!
