I don't think Adam is lying when he says nice things....he made a decision, but I'm sure he would have liked to have left on good terms. Just because someone does something we don't like, it doesn't mean everything they say and do is wrong. Doesn't excuse him for being a turncoat when we needed him the most, but doesn't mean he wished us ill. Lovren was out for the main chance. I think we are softer on Rickie because we all knew he was on his way out...we all thought he would play less for us this season (which made Liverpool taking him all the stranger).

Loved it, how uncomfortable was that for Lovren and Lallana lol. Ricky was his usual real person self.

    Very revealing.

Lovren I can actually sympathise with to an extent (having taken a step back and rationalised the situation). It's clear his main loyalties were always to Cortese and Pochettino - they signed him up to an ambitious project and I can remember him saying that he felt the project was over once they both left along with key players. We all thought that too on here in fairness.

Then a once-in-a-career chance to move to a huge club like Liverpool pops up. Foreign players don't grow up dreaming about playing for Southampton (I doubt he'd ever given us a moment's thought before being approached by us), but they do aspire to join clubs like Liverpool. A 'career footballer' desperately wanting to join one of the biggest clubs on the planet and leave a club in turmoil isn't exactly shocking.

We made a tidy profit and have far superior replacements. He also fulfilled his contractual duties by turning up for pre-season (albeit begrudgingly). This kind of mercenary behaviour is more normal and tolerated more outside of the British game. Plus, at least he had the decency to put in a transfer request...

... Which brings me on to Twatbeard. His personality seemed to fundamentally change for the worse during last season. It's hard for us on here to pinpoint where this arrogance came from without guessing. It was probably a mixture of an England call, becoming captain (he wasn't always in the side the season before, remember), our lofty position in the league and acclaim from pundits.

He, our club captain, weaseled his way out of a faltering ship a year after signing a long-term deal and saying he'd "snap your hand off" if offered the opportunity to finish his career at Saints. He signed Liverpool shirts while still a Southampton player, refused to submit a transfer request, 'dreamed of playing at Liverpool' whilst being our captain (this from an Everton fan too!) then took out that advert in the Echo as a final insult.

Who remembers him celebrating with "Happy Birthday Mum x" on his shirt after the Clattenburg incident? Another utterly cynical PR move. Even after scoring that wonderful goal against Hull, his first reaction was to gob off at the Hull fans and point at the name on his back. Arrogance personified.

Lovren seems to acknowledge that any bad feeling towards him is warranted. This interview proves that Lallana still just doesn't get it - "I'll take it as them missing me." No Adam, take it as us telling you that you're a ****.

I must have missed the bit when Lallana said how grateful he was for SFC and how proud he was to captain the team and how much he hd enjoyed the support from the fans ....

... But I heard the bit about us missing him.

    Prick.

    Lovren came across better.

Looking back I think we sold all of them at the right time. The years were starting to catch up with Lambert, Lovren had done well but his form was starting to slip and Lallana... well I never thought Lallana was as good as most people on here did and think we did well to get £24m for him.

I'd quite like Lambert still to be here so we'd have more than one striker but I don't really care about the other two.

I pretty much feel precisely the same as Yoshida above (the poster, not the defender!) I actually feel more aggrieved by Lallana than Lovren, who was with us five minutes and wouldn't necessarily feel any loyalty as such to the club. As FLT rightly says, he (Lallana) seems to still not quite get it.

All the same, as I said before on another thread, I don't *hate* him, or Lovren, or Pochettino or anyone of that ilk. However I reserve my right to consider them cockwombles.

Lambert is the person who had the emotional IQ and understanding to break-up before you did, knowing it was the right move for both parties. He gets why it hurt you, and it hurts him a little too. He still cares, and you can drunk text him at 3 am and he'll always be there for you.

Lallana is the hot chick who has simply moved on. He didn't break up out of spite, he doesn't hate you. He remembers his time with you fondly, and wishes you the best. He just doesn't understand why you can't let go. In the end, can you really say he treated you badly? He treated you quite fairly, maybe even better than fairly based on what he thought the relationship was, but there was a miscommunication. You were all ready to get married but to him you were just another boyfriend. He's down for a cup of coffee and a reminisce but your clinginess and continued hatred is starting to make him think you're a bit psycho and so maybe he should just stop talking to or about you, because it just draws the whole thing out.

Lovren never cared in the first place, and was always using you.

Miscommunication? He bought me a ****ing wedding ring... Of course I thought he wanted to marry me and spend the rest of his life with me. In fact he told all my friends he couldn't be happier and wanted to stay with me forever. He said he'd snap their hands off if that were offered.

Am I entitled to have a go when I see him because he broke his commitment to me just because he got some recognition and started getting attention from some other tart? Oh no, you want me to be all grown up and have a quick coffee and thank him for being a good shag; infact he should thank me - I taught him what to do with it.

He was just a spotty teenager when I met him, but I loved him for who he was, I could see how he could become and stuck by him. It didn't bother me he may have a heart problem. It didn't bother me that he was weedier than the others - I believed in him. I never questioned him when he wanted to be more of a man with the disastrous facial hair thing; I stuck by him.

Shame he broke his promise and commitment to me. The irony is though that I've heard his new tart has been playing with someone else; some Serbian lass with flowing locks, a Caribbean queen and a Brazilian stripper.

I remember how special he was to me; I'll never forget that or those good times, but what hurts me is now I have someone else, and all the world can see how happy I am and how much better I am doing, he doesn't even thank me or acknowledge me; he just assumes that I haven't moved on and that I miss him still.

How wrong can one boy be?

If his current relationship carries on in the ordinary fashion and hit and miss style, I don't suppose it will be long before I am the one recieving drunken, lonely, midnight texts.

Probably the biggest morning of the season (so far)
Coffee done, off the walk the dogs, then breakfast then at 11.30 the Northampton Massive will be hitting the road
Absolutely "stoked" and ready to join an atmosphere that you will be able to taste. Hope it comes across on Sky although they may wish to apply a parental guidance filter.
Regardless of where anyone stands regarding Brenda and "the others" a victory will be the only thing that will make us feel better following a cruel summer

Does anyone else find it a bit weird that Liverpool would even make this video?

I would just like to hear Lambert and Lallana explain some of the comments they have made.

When Lambert gave his first interview, after leaving, he made comments like "it all could have been so different, if it had been handled better" (something like that).
And Lallana, recently, claiming that he had never threatened to strike, but things "did get bad".

Why could it have been different?
How could it have been handled better, especially when dealing with players who seemed to know the manager was leaving, months before the club knew?
    How did things "get bad"?

In the case of AL, put your case out in the public domain, or shut the feck up.

Watched that for the second time just now. I found Lambert to be the real deal as usual, tells it like it is. Lovren was honest about his ambitions, we doubled our money in 8 months, he feels no regrets and would do the same again.
Oh dear, poor Adam! I could have written a dozen lines for him would have shown him in a better light. Difficult to get in his head but he sounds conflicted, the "they boo because they miss me" thing was an attempted joke btw; it's the way you tell 'em.
He sounds like he understands why he will get a bad reception, but feels it's unfair after all he did for us, which is a reasonable point. Trouble is that he did too much badge-kissing, too shortly before wanting out. Trying to argue that the "club lacked ambition at the time I left" just looks silly now.
I won't be booing him, I never do. It won't bother me if others do, but please don't let him score against us. If I have to watch him "not celebrating" I fear I might pebbledash the guy in front of me.
