We needed to be at our defensive best today, and we maintained it for 90 minutes, Ki was my MOTM Shelvey a close second............
Credit where it is due, I never seen this result coming. I honestly didn't see us getting much from the next 4 games. I thought the team looked a lot better today, Ki is fast becoming our best player in my eyes. Was everywhere today, up top scoring and having shots, to get back and perform his defensive duties.
Just got back. Didn't expect a win today but the team to a man dug in, and ground out an unlikely victory - and of course, a first ever double over United. Time for a drink With 37pts on the board already, we probably already have enough points to secure another season. That's worth a second drink!
Well, I've bagged Gomis for forever so in balance, he played well today; fluffed his lines a couple of times but stayed strong and was brave enough to keep going. Held the ball up very well and ran well off the ball too but, most importantly, today he looked like a decent player. He needs to keep it going now Thoughtful team selection from Monk which worked most of the time although the game plan went missing under imminence pressure. We lost our patience a little in defence and looked nervous for a period but we held our discipline and didn't go flying into tackles or be dragged out of position chasing down one of their 9 attacking players. We dug in, improvised when we had to, didn't panic and rebuffed everything that came at us. We showed maturity today which earned the club yet another milestone. Fantastic
That was as good as West Brom was bad - its a funny old game, last week I was gutted and today I am chuffed and today we made a little bit of history - AWESOME!!
Best game in a swans shirt for gomis who to be fair to him is improving with every game, He could have scored twice in the first 10-15 minutes ....He did a good job today and was part of the team.......Ki is my MOM followed closely by shelvey who had a great game.......Credit to our defence with ash in full control under presure and credit to monk for his well worked out game plan..........37m team beat a 250+m team..... it dont get any better.....
Can't disagree with anything there Dai, but would add that Gomis contributed a great deal to our defensive effort, particularly at corners where he and Fabianski were "our main men"!
A little bit of trivia for you taff....gomis started out as a defender before switching to striker.....
Question - heard a rumour that Van Gaal didn't shake Monk's hand at the end of the game. Anyone know if this is correct or jùst bu****it?
