All about Barbers Shop’s little half-brother for me, MAESTRO ROYAL, who has his 2nd run over hurdles tomorrow in the card commencer at Warwick (2.10). My regular readers were Ebullient with a capital ‘E’ after he won on debut but I doubt if we will see any of that 9/2 about him of the morrow, troops! Last month Mr Henderson’s charge did it very nicely as he quickened away very impressively from an above average sort and you can guarantee that since that victory the great man’s brilliant brain and ‘magic hands’ will have improved Maestro Royal significantly. Given he is a half-bro to the legendary Barbers Shop the step up in trip (by 2.5 furlongs) should also benefit the horse and he is the Geraghty lads only booked ride of the day. The likes of Delightful Delores, what a lovely name for a mare by the way, and Ballyboley are worthy opponents but I’d be surprised if Maestro Royal didn’t retain his unbeaten record over timber. Tomorrow’s race is a qualifier for the EBF Final run at Sandown Park, on the Saturday before the Cheltenham Festival, and I guess that is the long term plan for the old boy should everything go according to plan in just over 24 hours time. Good luck all.
Interesting runner in the Lingfield 4:30 tomorrow. HALF WAY 33-1 has looked very much to me like a horse that wasn't trying too hard on his last two outings. He has been dropped out the back and never ridden to get anywhere near. His mark has significantly dropped now and it is interesting that they have applied a tongue tie. They have also changed the jockey and I bet that they change the tactics. He won from the front for his previous handler and that is what I expect to see tomorrow. A bold front running display. Another one at a big price that catches my eye tomorrow is STORM ALERT 4:20 Exeter 25-1 and my rationale is that the horse won the race last year and returns to the scene on the exact same mark. A dour stayer this one and conditions should suit.
Stick - thoughts on Orange Nassau tomorrow pleAse mate. Will surely like the conditions and altho since he 1st run has been disappointing but is surely due a good run
An extremely one-paced horse mate and a devil of a ride as will be under the pump from a long way out. Tough as teak though and this does look up his street. Bet you will get decent odds in running but nit for the faint hearted.
Thanks! Will probably watch the race in running and decide then, but most likely will leave the race well alone, just caught my eye
3.40 Warwick- Bennys Mist - 7/1 Imo is a huge price , has a few market rivals above of him upped in class , this fella has been mostly consistent running is higher company and gave a very good account of him self over the big fences at Aintree back in December, will like the ground (although on his form has won on good and heavy) but with the ground coming back to this soft , hard workman type Venitas horses thrive in it On another note will be interesting to see how Paulings new recruit SPACE WALKER gets on, was a decent flat horse and given the stables form with these type of horses dependant on price my money will be down.
Master Malt - 4.20 Exeter took 3/1 into 11/4 now. Jonjo hitting form as he does at this time of year, should take all the beating
Morning All Just the one fancy for me so far today and that is in the lucky last at Dundalk tonight: 9.05 Macnicholson 5/2 (Bet365), I managed to get 7/2 earlier, must have been the weight of my £20 that shortened the price Placed in 2/3 starts on the flat, making handicap debut and I reckon will go close
15:20 Exeter - Storming Strumpet (e/w @ 8/1) (What a lousy name to call this innocent mare, surely her owners, Pjl Racing, or whoever gave her this sorry name in the first place, could have done better than that? Nevermind, has a decent chance to make the frame in this one).
Playing the "forget form, track etc and just blindly follow Kirby & Morris on the all weather" game at Lingfield this afternoon. 8 rides (5 Morris and 3 for Kirby). Here's hoping for a couple of winners.
Morris leaving early and off to Wolves.....that's where his best rides look to be today! Just my opinion.
Lingfield 3.30 Gung Ho Jack @ 9/2 Nicely backed when making all to win at Chelmsford this month, showing a good attitude in the process, and better effort when following up over C&D on Wednesday when the money was down again; widest draw and penalty to deal with here but clearly at the top of his game at present for a very shrewd yard.
I'm not normally one for opposing top tipsters like Stick and Boris but one that catches my eye at a huge price in the 4:30 Lingfield is Shifting Star there are definitely worse 33/1 shots out there and this is definitely worth a go EW.
