It clearly states in the Financial times it is purported that Bradford had more millionairesin the 19 century than anywhere else in the country as no one has objected to this statement not evenChippy or his buddy I will take this has being a fact If you wish to read this it was reported on the 27 sept 2008called Fuel for renewal I have written to the editor of the T@A forhis views on the matter
My final post on this.... The key word above is "purported", That means it is not a fact it's an opinion.. As an example of purporting, I purport to me being witty and clever, it doesn't mean I am ( even though we both know I am). Let's agree to disagree.
If you write to the FT then all well and good what you don't understand is the word reputed it is not disputed no one to my knowledge has challenged that statement so it would appear to me that infact its a FACT I think you are very funny by the way
I have found a link confirming Leeds60 assertion regarding Bradford millionaires https://m.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=400306963317304&id=143112762370060 Bradford in USA
60 - This will interest you http://www.people.hbs.edu/tnicholas/Wealth.pdf eers On page 2, It gives you a summary of 19th Century English millionaires London 97 Clydeside 30 Merseyside 38 Yorkshire 19 Now even if Bradford was so big in the 19th Century that it had Merseyside, Clydeside and the whole of Yorkshire in its boundaries, it still had fewer millionaires than London You can now attack Glory
Well found! You had me worried for a minute. But we put this one to bed this morning. I am magnanimous when proved right so I won't bang on about it. Can't speak for Ristac though.
Nice find TC Can be put to bed three times over now with hard evidence that Bradford didn't have more millionaires I wonder if Google will be trending for "Bradford Millionaires" this week
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/latest-news/top-stories/harrogate-a-hotspot-for-millionaires-1-6621250 Some of Harrogate’s millionaires are among the richest people in Yorkshire according to the Sunday Times Rich List. Five of the twenty richest people in Yorkshire live in the Harrogate district, with four of those sitting comfortable among the top ten richest people in Yorkshire. Despite Sir Ken Morrison’s fortune dropping by £105m in the last year, his families £900m fortune still makes him the richest in the district and the fifth richest person in Yorkshire, down from third place last year. The supermarket mogul who lives in a lavish French-style chateau near Boroughbridge, is the 110th richest person in the country. Paul Sykes, who lives on the Studley Royal Estate outside Ripon ranks sixth in the Yorkshire Rich List. The multimillionaire made a fortune from the sale of Meadowhall shopping centre near Sheffield, and his Highstone property operation has further assets put at £253.7m. Mr Sykes has a personal wealth of £650m and is using some of his fortune to bankroll UKIP’s advertising campaign ahead of next week’s European elections. In 2013 he said: “I am prepared to do whatever it takes to propel UKIP to victory next year.” Mr Sykes has helped to fund floodlights for Ripon Cathedral and donated £1m to the restoration of the landmark Royal Hall in Harrogate. Terry Bramall and his family’s £425m fortune makes him the seventh richest in Yorkshire. The former chairman of the Doncaster-based Keepmoat construction ranked 241th in the UK. Mr Bramall, who lives in Harrogate, also ranks third nationally in this year’s Sunday Times Giving List. The charitable millionaire has given a total of £107.4m to charity since he sold the Keepmoat construction group in late 2007. The Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation was set up in 2008 with a gift of £96m. Internet entrepreneur Peter Wilkinson, who is from Harrogate, has increased his fortune by £25m to £360m in the last year, ranking 264th nationally. Further down the list is car sales millionaire Tony Bramall, ranked 18th in Yorkshire and 448th in the country with an estimated fortune of £209m. Harrogate millionaire Sir Robert Ogden dropped off the top twenty richest in Yorkshire list this year, despite maintaining his £150m fortune. A spokesperson for The Sunday Times Rich List said: “Although he has sustained his wealth there have been a few new entries this year.” The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate District Hospital opened earlier this year thanks to a generous £3.5m donation from the property mogul.
You guys arn't exactly letting this die down are you. Come on let it drop. The poor bloke fecked up, he don't need you lot taking the piss.
The only realistic conclusion to this discussion would be for 'The Erroneous One' to issue a grovelling apology to Glory and Ristac, acknowledging that he was completely and utterly wrong, whilst accepting The SBA without the need for the monthly vote
