http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...b-even-if-rangers-are-relegated-10054370.html QPR chief Tony Fernandes has said QPR 'would be nuts' to look for a new manager if Chris Ramsey kept them in the Premier League this season. Ramsey was appointed interim boss until the end of the seasonafter Fernandes failed to lure his 'dream manager' to Loftus Road earlier this month. But the QPR owner says the job is 'Ramsey's for the taking' and the 52-year-old former Tottenham coach could be installed on a permanent basis even if Rangers drop back to the Championship. “When you’ve got someone like Chris Ramsey, I think the job is his for the taking and I don’t necessarily mean we have to stay up or whatever,” Fernandes told Sky Sports News HQ. “Obviously we want to stay up and if we stay up Chris is going to be there automatically but it’s his job for the taking. “If you were in my position, what would you do? Look, if someone keeps us up now we would be nuts to change them, right? “But even if we don’t stay up - and we’ve got to be real about it - I think Chris still could be the man that takes us to the Promised Land.”
This knee jerk stuff is all a bit worrying TBH. On the basis of one decent performance against a fellow struggler (who went on to get beaten by the same margin by a League 1 side this week of course) Ramsey is suddenly the answer to all our problems. Perhaps he is and its certainly refreshing to see him trying new things but at this stage we simply don't have enough to go on and it's hard to see why TF is waxing so lyrical. The bloke has been around a while and we haven't heard a peep from Tony about him in the past. I thought the current arrangement was a partnership anyway so even that seems to have already changed in our owner's head without any kind of announcement. I'm a big TF fan but he does seem to be scrabbling around these days. Too much pressure?
Tone loves an interview and it keeps the R's in the news for good or bad........At least based on the performance at Sunderland he is prepared to set up sides to attack rather than the previous incumbent who set us up to play for a 0-0 away and then couldn't understand why when we went a goal down we continued to lose, tried everything to get a result apparently away from home....... Feel good factor creeping back in...... Roll on Saturday
So the 'Dream Manager' was a load of bollox as we all suspected. It seems TF suffers from 'Foot in Mouth Syndrome', every time he opens his mouth he puts his foot in it. Hopefully he'll shut up now and let Ramsey get on with the job and we might just have a prayer...
You gotta admire Tony Fernandes.........................like all true R's fans he's all over the bleeding place!!
What's not to love about the new 'avatar' Goldie? That made me laugh when I had to do a double take on the poster's name. Good one.
You may be right AAAAAGH, but who would be better at this present moment in time? I feel a lot more confident of seeing a better performance with Ramsey in charge than Harry. I do realise that I stand to be corrected of course. Harry 0/11 away wins. Ramsey 1/1 away wins. Maths has never been my strong point but I doubt Harry would've got that win at Sunderland with the crap tactics and team selections he was putting out.
Ramsey has been saying all the right things, he's demanding 100% effort in all games and he doesn't bring the cocky demeanour which Sherwood carries with him. I do think we should all put the brakes on however, we've got some tough games coming up and ultimately he'll be judged at the end of the season. He seems like a guy who's come through the ranks the hard way though and I respect that about him.
I thought he spoke very well in the press conference. He is clearly a very intelligent bloke and handles the media well. If he can get the team to perform well on the pitch I think he will make an excellent all round manager.
I felt quite nostalgic reviewing photos of Harry H Corbett, Nines. Grew up with him and Wilfred Brambles in my living room. Harry was a fabulous character actor and died far too young at 57. And those Galton and Simpson sketches may look a bit dated now, but at the time, they were sublime!
I make my daughter listen to Hancock's Half Hour on Radio 4 Extra when she's lucky enough to get a lift to school. Galton and Simpson were genius, compared to the other 'vintage' stuff they play on 4 Extra, hardly dated at all (although a grasp of post war austerity is handy). Apparently Harry H and Brambles absolutely hated each other, with makes the bitterness of Steptoe and Son evern more poignant.
Dont know mate, but i do know our current prime minister is having a great go at emulating his namesake...
Yes, post war austerity was a big factor in life in East Cheam. Hancock's career started sliding downhill when he split from G & S. Interesting about Harry and Wilf - hadn't heard that.
