I'm fairly happy with this one, I think he could slot in nicely. However, I just read on the BBC he made the following quotes.

'I've got a great feeling about being here. It's a massive club'
'As son as I knew Charlton wanted tp sign me, it did'nt matter what they offered me. I just wanted to be here.'

It's great that he feels that way. But there's a vague feeling this is the guy who turned us down in the past because we were'nt big enough. I could be wrong, he does'nt confide in me very often these days. Ah well, if he wears the shirt and translates all these sentiments onto the pitch, he'll be welcome.

Anyone know why the Tangerine dream let him go?

    Ken - wages apparently.

Decent signing IMO, but where does this leave JBG ? Sold in the summer.

Eagles' contract is until the end of this season only.

Fair enough Willy. Still think it is decent short term signing. He is better than a lot who we have brought in.

Not denying that but what is he going to achieve in 2½ months?

I think we are safe from the drop-zone and we aren't going to make the play-offs so perhaps it's just a bit of cover or perhaps you're right and if he performs RD will give him a longer contract and cash in on JBG.

He would have been told what to say by his agent. A large % of fans won't be aware of why he rejected us last season, so it's a good PR step.

It buys RD and the ice maiden time, they now get an easy ride till May, and all you St holders will renew in the belief that the squad might just see other improvement. It's a pr masterstroke, made even better because it cost peanuts.

We might be stupid, Chippy, but we're not that stupid!

I'm not saying we're stupid - but there is a lot of fawning over this signing. I think it has gone a long way to ''dispel'' a lot of what's been said about Roland recently.

Obviously not my view, just an observation.

At least Phil Chapple appears to have more say over the signings now, even the Belgian ones, which if true is a positive step. Who knows, rolo might be learning something.

Hasn't Phil Chapple been at the club since Super Pards?

Elliot Ozmusi. Patel Abbott. Izale Macleod. Luke Varney.

But not Dave Mooney. I enjoyed his footballing brain.

Taking a positive slant on this - hopefully Eagles will be looking for a longer term deal so will want to impress over the coming months.

On the other hand though, if he scores, there is a very real danger that we will chant "EEEEEEAAAAAAGLES". No-one wants to hear that.

JBG may well leave, but I cannot imagine we will get that much for him. What did we get for Kermorgant, Stephens, Morrison and Devite?

£350k for Yann Kermorgant I believe. Which is a @&$?ing joke. Eddie Howe I believe once said, "best bargain he's got...." and given the goals he's scored them.

That's what happens when you employee an inexperienced CEO.

Not surprised by the figure - a lot of people quoted £400k this time last year, so it always stuck in my head.

And scoring goals is only part of his contribution.

I think the Kermorgant debate has been done to death. We all realise that he should have been kept. But what is the point of raking over what happened over a Year ago. We shouldn't have sold Hales, Bonds, Elliot, P.Walsh, Lee,etc We have always been a selling Club, usually for a price that is under their real value.
