Right attitude to have, or should Walters be more hungry?
Good morning Matt and co from a dull Bardsey The only problem I see for Levi's wife is how will she get money out of BATESIt will probaly cost more than she has been awardedthough I do hope she persists with her claim .Now if her father in law was still around she would have no difficulty whatsoever he was renowned for being the best lawyer in Leeds .If he took your case you won simple as that In the Williams case I find that Williams by sending those offensive pictures has dug his own grave and I for one will be very surprised if he wins, so please Ristas take a note I didnt say he will lose I said I would be surprised if he won! You forgot to mention Matt that Boro will be without their regular keeper on Sat as he was sent off last night so lets hope this is a good omen and finally is the match being televised if so I hope to see WJ at the usual pub
Morning all, Was just thinking also that Boro may well be a bit tired with them playing in the last game of the midweeks (where we didnt play at all!) and it being an early kick off on Saturday against us! We need to get at them early doors me thinks!!
Well surprise surprise Williams has lost his case as I thought he would or did I read it in the paper before I gave my thoughts this morning ! NB RistacI wrote what i believed at 8.43 what time did the result come out you do the digging Clue 11 oclock
LEEDS United’s former technical director has lost his High Court damages claim over his dismissal for sending an email containing “obscene” images of naked women in the shower to Sunderland boss Guy Poyet. Gwyn Williams, 66, who was summarily dismissed for gross misconduct in July 2013, was seeking up to £250,000 in compensation for breach of contract. Mr Williams claimed the email he sent to ex-Chelsea colleague Dennis Wise, Gus Poyet - now head coach of Sunderland - and Carol Lamb, a receptionist at the club, was part of a “dirty Leeds” joke, referring to the club’s reputation for heavy tackling in the 1970s. But dismissing his case today, Mr Justice Lewis of the Queen’s Bench Division said sending the “obscene and pornographic e-mails” was “a sufficiently serious breach of the duty of implied trust and confidence as to amount to a repudiation of the contract”. He said: “The club was entitled to rely upon that conduct as justifying the summary dismissal of the Claimant on 30 July 2013. The claim is therefore dismissed.” During the hearing, Mr Williams’s counsel, Daniel Barnett, told Mr Justice Lewis at London’s High Court that an attachment to the March 2008 email contained some images of a “Benny Hill” or “saucy postcard” nature while others went a little further, showing genitalia and women hugging and caressing each other. “But they fall considerably short of hard-core pornography, or images that are likely to shock and disturb. They are innocuous in nature, “ he said. Mr Williams, who joined Leeds in August 2006 at an annual salary of £200,000 plus benefits, argued that forwarding the email to three friends was not sufficiently serious to amount to a repudiatory breach of contract - while the club says it was. He says that five years and eight months elapsed before it was discovered by the club, while allegedly conducting a forensic examination to find a reason to justify not paying him his notice. Mr Barnett said: “The sole remaining issue is whether forwarding an email containing vulgar images goes suffficiently to the root of the employment contract to justify dismissal without notice.”
Levi's wife will win her case and Leeds Utd will be forced to foot the bill, just like when the original case took place for husband Melvyn. Bates stated that the club would have to pay as he was on club business when it happened. As usual Teflon Bates will cause damage to the club without hurting his bank balances. Shame about Williams because I reckon many of us could fall foul for the same stuff, as we use company PC's and phones to send each other jokes, texts, photo's, we're all guilty but it's hardly crime of the century yet the pc brigade now dictate that companies can now use this as an excuse for getting rid of workers they don't like. If you're unliked at work just make sure your pc and phone don't have stuff on them, get used for sending/receiving stuff ...... or your job could be on the line and you have no chance of winning an industrial tribunal. Elland no more photos of you bumming bull dogs
Get off your soap box. The guy sent an obscene e mail, that would always be reasonably considered as gross misconduct. You didn't need to be Poirot to know this. Gross misconduct=dismissAl under any disciplinary process. Why do YOU always " have to go after" those who gave a different opinion to you. If you were sixty years younger and did it face to face you wouldn't do it very long. You quote the obvious, overplay your intelligence and belittle others. Not only that you never do it with any sense of style or humour.
Chippy - why do you keep having a go at the guy who wrote to McDermott and brought us the new Joe Jordan?
What he actually wrote suggested that we sign (Katie Price) Jordan. He was suggesting to big immobile lumps up top. 9 posts since September, must try harder. Lol
I know!! Work gets in the way and there is a guy on JA606 that professes to be a Leeds fan who pontificates about everything but never actually goes to games that really put me off getting into this!! Work gets in the way a bit too. Nobody on here does that at all - seems like what a forum should be!! I watch you tickling Mike most days and smile but I can't get offended by him
This place is miles better than ja. I would suggest Mike is the bigger tickler on here! Mike is either the best wum on the Internet or round the bend, I have no idea which. This despite sharing a pint on a couple of occasions. The locals are all friendly and there is a decent level of banter. Ell pontificates a fair bit without going to games but everyone just ignores him.
Agreed and will try harder!! Ell just seems as though he tries really hard for the sake of the board and I respect him for that even if he can't get up the motorway! Definitely doesn't pontificate like Jonty on the other board - Mike might be a bit mad but you try reading some of the dross he spouts (seems to take glee from anything bad that happens to LUFC). I think you are more than aware of who really does the tickling - that is why it is so funny but agreed, Mike does talk a lot of dross but that is quite funny too in it's own way
Ell for a southerner and a robbing cnut estate agent is a star. Fooking lightweight in the pub though. It's all just entertainment, if it brightens up anyone's day then it was worth doing. But I am never sure if Mike is on my hook or I am on his. Are you grooming me?
I happen to be going to see Al Murray tonight, if I get chance I will tell him it isn't Nigel Farage who is stealing his act, it's 60!
