Sunderland have completed the signing of Manchester United utility man John O'Shea. The versatile O'Shea, aged 30, agreed a four-year contract at the Stadium of Light after the Black Cats and the Red Devils agreed an undisclosed fee. The Irishman follows his United defensive colleague Wes Brown to Wearside after he signed for their new club earlier on Thursday. Manager Steve Bruce said: "His wealth of experience and versatility will be great attributes for us." The Black Cats' triple-bid had a joint bid for O'Shea, Brown and midfielder Darron Gibson accepted last month. Gibson's move from Old Trafford had been slowing the deal and the other two transfers have now gone through without him. Bruce continued: "John has been a solid, consistent part of Manchester United's squad for well over a decade which goes to show the fantastic pedigree of player we have signed. "He is a wonderful professional both on and off the field. "I'm delighted with the players we've been able to secure ahead of the new season."
"Best signing of the summer for me. Would walk into just about any team in the EPL IMO" Totally agree marra, just waiting for the barcodes to say otherwise(inevitably)
I like the comment about "what I heard about the place - my mind was made up I only wanted to go to Sunderland". Either this was Bardo or Danny Welbeck. If it was Danny, a big ****ing thank you lad because O'shea is a quality player. You don't stay at Man U, in a team that more or less has changed 3 times if in your time their if you're ****e. Loving this signing and deffo should be the new Captain next season. With Bolo 'disco dancing' Zenden leaving O'Shea and Brown will add grit to us and those last minute winner against us (stoke) won't happen because these guys can handle pressure. Well please....!!!!
