A bloke I work with is a Man Utd fan and he rates Carrick, don't get it myself he's average at everything. You lot see him week after week so would know more than me.

What in the league? Where else do you think the goals will come from? 15 from Gerrard as well? I always see it like you want your first choice striker (Rooney) to score 20-25 goals in all competitions, 2nd choice striker (Hernandez) to score 15-20 goals and your 3rd choice (Berbatov) 10-15 goals.

Last season United's 3 main strikers did pretty much that, but not in that order. Berbatov 22, Hernandez 20 and Rooney 17 in all competitons. Think our next highest scorer was Nani with 10 so then you need them from midfield. Park got about 8 and the rest got 5 or less I think.

But with you really just concentrating on the league I think you should be looking at Carroll or Suarez to aim for at least 20 goals with the other aiming for at least 15.

Gerrard and Adam are capable of double figures and Kuyt will get a few, you are probably right though it's a few more than 15 from at least one of them needed.

I don't see him week in week out, but you can tell when you do see him that he is pretty good at what he does.

The thing with Carrick is that people expect him to be a creative playmaker when he's actually being used as a DM.
People expect DMs to be all-action tackling machines when these days you actually recover the ball more often from interceptions than tackles.
Carrick's positional sense is excellent when we don't have the ball and even if he doesn't win it back himself, he slows down the opposition, giving more time for the rest of the defense to get in position - pretty important at Utd when we tend to commit men forward and can leave ourselves exposed at times.
