I can see a minority Tory government giving it a go and then us having to repeat the whole process all over again with another GE with the year.

The problem is that when you cast your vote you invariably end up with a politician!

Kinda like having to choose from a list of burglars and deciding which one you want to come and rob your house <doh>

Without PR it's pretty meaningless and coalitions mean ALL manifestos are obsolete once elected so they can promise whatever they like to the electorate anyway....................... isn't that right Cleggy!

I'm currently trying to work out if I'm allowed to give my daughter pocket money in cash, and where the tax liability sits.

Think it would depend on whether or not it is considered a charitable donation or a paid for service...if pocket money is tied to chores then she may be looking at PAYE deductions.

Keep it under the minimum taxable amount and you should be ok...

It's all okay everyone, just hold on and soon the Anglican Bishops will be able to tell us not only to vote but who to vote for as well, they're just waiting for God to get back to them on that. Might be a long wait though, took him a couple of millennia to let them know that women and gays should be allowed to lead their dressing up and worshipping him rituals too.

My view - the Anglican church should not, as an unelected body, get involved in politics in this way. If individual Bishops want to comment, then fine - this is free speech. But what has the church to do with whether we stay in Europe or not? A nuclear deterrent is hugely expensive but it has helped keep the balance of power - the church want to get rid of it at a time when we have a Russian leader increasingly interested in grabs for land and power.

The Anglican church should focus on the country's spiritual welfare. No wonder its congregations are at all time lows all around the country

Sorry, but the Church has every right to express an opinion on politics (or any other matter), just as any other organization outside of politics has the same right.

General synod voted against women Bishops, so they were all called names and made to revote and come up with the right result.

Democracy in action, week minded people bullying people with conviction in their belief system, whether its right or wrong is irrelevant, Why bother voting if the result is already accepted knowledge.

The Modern English Church in now Gluten & Dairy Free, Oh yeah and congregation free too.

Although to be fair to them they are more left wing than the labour party could even dream of.

    God help us.

Totally agree. Whether it has the moral authority, gravitas or basic rationality to be taken seriously is a completely different matter.

I'd like to hear from unions, businesses, youth organisations, reading circles, knitting clubs you name it. They have to be more thought provoking than career politicians.

Stan might need to set his daughter up as a sub-contractor to ensure that he doesn't become liable for employers NI too.

Actually, I probably get e-mails from all of those and the one I objected to most was from the Labour party giving the impression that I was an avid follower (I definitely did not sign anything vaguely connected with them).

Then the church becomes just another pressure group, which I my view demeans it. When the church comes to be regarded like a trade union, it's the beginning of the end for it. Soon, there may well be a referendum on staying in Europe. Whatever your views, for or against, are vicars all over the country going to preach ever Sunday that it's the duty of its congregation to vote in favour of staying in?

The church is very different from any other group outside politics. It claims to speak in the name of, and with the power of, God.
