First of all, either write a poem or don't. Secondly, it's not some big mystery to players that they might find themselves on the bench or in the stands from time to time, it's down to them to show that they deserve a place every week. To assume that all PL players are mardy arses who can't take being dropped is ridiculous. Look at Stoke, for example. They came up the same time as us last time and haven't gone anywhere, because their purchases have been a mix of first teamers and squad players. Or, they were bought as top purchases but found themselves slowly turning into back up players, like Charlie Adam. They're now a solid outfit and a fixture in the PL. They don't have Championship level players kicking about on their bench, they have quality options to bring on, or play in the cups for them. You can't just buy Championship quality because they'd be happier with a place on the bench, knowing they aren't good enough. If they haven't got the ability, why would they be at the club? Yes, quality does cost money, but given the figures banded about for being in the PL in two years time, isn't it worth the expenditure now to ensure we get a slice of the action? That money could go towards developing an academy to category one, setting up links abroad to other clubs or simply bringing in quality players to help us push on. If continue to rely on Championship players, that's where we will end up. Yes we need players with desire and commitment, but I'd rather we bought proven PL ones than rely on ones that don't really have the ability.
I like Bruce defensively, no nonsense and doesn't do a lot wrong. What he seriously lacks is his ball playing ability. Even simple passes he wont attempt due to lack of ability and would rather give it to someone else in sometimes a worse position to do the job. Chester may not be quite the defender Bruce is yet but his ball playing ability is miles ahead
name the games that Bruce hasn't either passed sideways or hoofed it up field to the opposition - if you want the best example just look at Fulham away last season - Bruce on the pitch 0 - 2 ...Bruce off the pitch 2 - 0 - cue the he had Suarez in his pocket bollocks

Hot current scone day. This day arrived, birthdays, Christmas rolled as into one My perfect day, my very lovely, hot current scone day. It started well, oh that wind assisted floaty smell, Like trumpets signalling the arrival of someone of importance.Through my nose, into my throat and warms my very soul.
Too cold to go out mum Oh!! On this cold December day, Children refuse their outside play. Xbox on, their fingers at the ready, staring at that huge fifty inch telly. No conversation, a refusal to talk, Please be quiet,or go for a walk. The possibility of interaction, Disappears like word subtraction. A grunt and a groan will be your lot, to another world they then will plot...
This was when my wife went for a check up on a lump she had A day of whites. You moved outside into this early light, no cars around to steal your silent walk. A last look back, a pale strained smile, still looking every bit the lady you are. A day of tests before you, a testing day, long white robes and sharpe needles. You hide your stress and worry well, As a liner cuts through waves and swell. This day moves slow, clock hands redundant, pain from these tests leaves you repugnant. But soon this day will move upon its end, And to your purple gown and slippers send. At last I can wrap my arms around you tight To hold you close until the next day's light The tears I cannot hold, you do not see For the sleep you need, has now come to thee.
If the penalty had been given at Man City, and it should have been, then this thread wouldn't exist. Small margins.
The Irish lads & Bruce being in the team are what make us competitive and give us the fighting spirit. It's because we can see ourselves in players like Bruce and Macca when we play amateur footie. Players like these are special as they help keep bridge the gap between fantasy and reality. If you play some fooball you'll know what I'm trying to say.
None of our players are perfect if they were they wouldn't be playing for us.Alex is primarily employed as a defender a job he does well he absolutely owned Suarez in the Liverpool game at the KC, my favourite minds eye snapshot of that game is of Suarez sitting on his backside outside our penalty box moaning at the ref.because Alex. had tackled him. I agree we need to improve the quality in the squad but this has got to be a gradual process the players who got us into the Premier League offer something that is priceless in our present situation, backbone and courage.
If you are going to use a list of games where a player has been crap to determine whether they are Premier League quality or not you will need to include most of our squad, particularly McGregor, Huddlestone, Livermore, Hernandez, Davies.....
I think everyone would love a squad full of players the calibre of Jelavic and Dawson. But they are two reasons why we haven't. One we can't afford to pay every member of the squad close to £50k a week and two the reason them type of players joined us in the first place is to play first team football. What the likes of Bruce lack in ability make up in spirit and grit.
Red Top Reader I'd like to take this opportunity To enquire about all the ****ing poetry? What's it about because I fail to see It appears a little off topic to me. Do scones piping hot that have just been made Have anything to do with how Alex has played? So what if the smell goes straight up the snout Will it improve Bruce's game, without any doubt? If kids won't play out put a foot up their ass But how will that help in teaching Alex to pass? Brat's not talking's a blessing in disguise Yet nowt to do with Al plotting Lambert's demise White coats are good & so are the slippers Yet Bruce didn't need them when beating the bin dippers Lumps, tests & needles can be very sad But does that really confirm Al's football is bad? I know that it's hard but it needs to be said Your attention seeking almost ruined this thread It may seem harsh if I appear to be blunt But you really must know, I think you're a ****.
Bruce very rarely lets us down and what he lacks in technique and skill he makes up in graft, spirit and sheer honest bravery. No-one at our club can tackle like Alex Bruce does. It's pointless criticising him on his limitations nowadays as his limitations are well known. He's a no-nonsense defender and little else, and we've conceded 1 goal in our last two games (Which he started) after letting in 6 in the previous two. He's exactly the player you need in a relegation scrap, not some fancy ball-playing foreign centre-back who can't be arsed.
