FIFA need to resolve this quickly. Clearly it's better for all concerned if it goes through, but if it doesn't, it needs to not go through quickly so he can get back in training with us. The alternative is bad for Bryan and bad for us. The longer it goes on, the less useful he'll be for whichever club ends up with him.
Levante have made a statement saying that "FIFA have denied Ruiz move". Allegedly we messed up the original paperwork (showing the the loan as until 2016) and although that was corrected and submitted to the FA on time it missed the Spansih deadline. Bryan must be Royally peed off and while he can now get back into training, not sure where his heart and mind will be.
Now confirmed on the club's Twitter feed: @FulhamFC: It was confirmed on Tuesday that Bryan Ruiz's proposed loan move to Levante had fallen through. #ffc 1/5 @FulhamFC: Our manager commented: “Unfortunately Bryan’s loan has been rejected, which is obviously very disappointing for the player & Levante. 2/5 @FulhamFC: "All of the necessary paperwork was finalised here in time for this to be completed, so it’s a situation that we can unfortunately... 3/5 @FulhamFC: "...do nothing about. I’ll speak to Bryan later & would obviously like to have him back playing for us as soon as possible. #ffc 4/5 @FulhamFC: "It's a tough knock for him but he’s a great character and loves his football, so I know he’ll just want to get on and play.” #ffc 5/5 Hardly an ideal situation for anyone, but we haven't won a game without him in the league so I'd welcome him back in the side as long as he's reasonably motivated. Could be the difference between staying in the Championship and plummeting into League 1 at this rate!
Have to feel sorry for Bryan that's twice his loans have fallen through. In the August window Werder Bremen had to pull out at the last minute because of money problems and a transfer embargo. Now something has gone wrong and if true about the 2016 mistake, I doubt he is pleased. Why do we always leave these loans and transfers to the very last day ? It seems to me clubs and agents are playing gamesmanship behind the scenes. I don't know who Ruiz's agent is, but I'd sack him if I found out the reason is he couldn't get things sorted well before a deadline date. But don't worry we've got Kacaniklic
That'll be awkward on the training pitch today. Hi guys, I'm back! I actually don't think it will be, he's a pro. He'll get on with it. Good point about not winning in his absence.
As long as he stays motivated - and Kit's words suggest that he will - then it's no bad thing to have him around as another option. I think it might have been better for everyone if he had moved on, but maybe he's got another significant contribution to make here before he's done with us.
According to Simon Peach the mess was at the other end: @SimonPeach: Bryan Ruiz's move to Levante has been vetoed by FIFA, so he is staying at #FFC. Comedy of errors from the Spanish end, as I understand it.
I think we will need Bryan for the rest of the season to stay up let alone push for promotion. I'm happy he's back - his quality has been missed.
Well, it’s not what “an angry” Bryan has said to the Spanish press. http://translate.google.co.uk/trans...Ruiz-Fulham-queria-prestamo_0_1469053177.html Lose translation. Having travelled with the team on the Friday, Bryan still hadn’t convinced Kit to let him go on loan. Agreement was eventually reached 1 hour before the Spanish window closed. However Bryan himself didn’t sign the papers until 15 minutes before the deadline. The Levante club president then told him shortly after midnight that they arrived late and his move would have to wait a FIFA decision. The same Spanish press also re-iterate that the “2016 error” was at the root of the matter: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://www.nacion.com/deportes/&prev=search
Cheers C58 - we'll just have to wait and see what sort of player we're left with. He hardly looked thrilled to be here before this happened so it probably won't change much. For Fulham's part, I wonder if it was a question of wanting to sell not loan him, rather than not letting him leave at all. Kit said early in Jan that he thought the player would leave during the window. Seems it's never easy being Bryan!
I translated the Spanish report into something a little less literal. Despite his quiet, calm voice, the hub of the National Team, Bryan Ruiz, did not hide his frustration for failing to join the spanish league side Levante. The number 10 chatted with Radio Marca de Valencia and stressed that Fulham actually wanted to sell him and tried to avoid a loan deal until the very last minute. "It makes me very angry but nothing can be done. Fulham has the right to loan me or not and they did not want to. I eventually convinced them, but when the paperwork is signed and sent everything off it comes in one minute late. I do not want to blame anyone, Fulham owns my registration. You can not do anything in that sense because I have a contract to play for them, "said Ruiz. In his conversation Weasel (his agent presumably? or the Radio show host?) reveals the reason as to why he (Ruiz) wants to leave London to try to play on the pitch with some of the best players (although I much prefer the literal translation which is where they shine the best legs of football). The request was finally listened to but lack of time remaining for the Spanish market meant they had to hang up the closed sign. According to the player, talks with the team management intensified five hours before the close of the Spanish market. "That day I traveled with the team because we played the next day, we were in communication with Levante before 7 pm Before dinner I had a talk with the coach, because they do not want me to go out on loan, I was trying to convince him that it is better for everyone "After dinner I had convinced them, but it left only an hour before the closing of the transfer window in Spain. Fulham begin to do the paperwork while I'm in the room waiting to sign the papers. "When they called, there was about a quarter of an hour left but I signed everything and was called by Don Quico (Catalan, president of Levante) after 12:00am and he tells me that the paperwork arrived late and we had to wait for the decision from FIFA. Fulham disagree. The coach Kit Symons said yesterday that the paperwork sent by his team arrived on time. "I'll talk to Bryan, I'd have him back playing for us as soon as possible," said the Manager.
oh the life of Bryan! You can just seem him thrusting the windows open of the changing room at Motspur Park and there he is stark naked with 1000's of fans waiting outside for his autograph! All agog at hthis fine specimen of a man! Meanwhile his mum is in the crowd swearing blue murder at him, "you wait til I get you home to Puerto Rico young man!". In another scene Kit and his back room staff are asking the question "what has Mr Khan ever done for us?"...............
I like your imagination. This is crazy Friday afternoon scribbling not Thursday - there's a book in you somewhere.
Suggestions that there could still be an out for Bryan. He has apparently tweeted: "Don't rule out a move to the Nordic or MLS. We'll see if there's interest from their teams". Source: http://www.eightysixforever.com/2015/2/12/8028317/bryan-ruiz-to-mls
