And he warned the hapless Hoops they will continue to be told home truths if Tim Sherwood is finally appointed as full-time boss after Tuesday night’s visit to Sunderland. Ramsey said of the players: “It’s important that they realise it’s not acceptable to not run the required amount of kilometres and stick to the gameplan. “When they sign a contract, they promise to do something, don’t they? The worse thing they can do is not try. “You can understand when you have a free-kick and it goes over the bar and you understand when someone is in a one-on-one situation and they might be slightly better than them. “But all professionals have an obligation to the fans to meet the promise they made to the club when they came.” QPR, last year’s Championship play-off winners, sit 19th in the table after failing to win any of their 11 away games this season under the departed Harry Redknapp. Steve Bardens please log in to view this image Moan Ranger: Ramsey said of his squad 'the worse thing they can do is not try' And with only 14 games left, Ramsey has bluntly called for more effort from the club’s millionaires to avoid a second consecutive relegation from the Premier League. “I wouldn’t say they let Harry down totally - when you sign, you sign for the club,” he said. “Ultimately, it’s the club that has been let down because the club has a lot to lose by going down into the Championship.” Ramsey, who will recall ex-England defender Rio Ferdinand at the Stadium of Light for only his second league start in four months, said former Spurs boss Sherwood will be equally forthright if he comes in. “Tim has his ways of dealing with players,” he said. “No one has a way that is perfect but most of his methods are sound. “It is important to be honest with the players. It’s also important that the fans know that you will not accept people not putting a shift in for the club.” Sunderland vs QPR: Probable teams Sunderland Pantilimon, Jones, Vergini, O’Shea, Van Aanholt, Bridcutt, Gomez, Larsson, Johnson, Defoe, Wickham. QPR Green, Isla, Ferdinand, Caulker, Hill, Phillips, Fer, Barton, Traore, Zarate, Zamora.
For a guy who is only filling in as manager, he sure has had a lot to say in a short space of time. We the fans don't need to know, just tell the players ................. they need it more.
I'm bored of his opinions already, he'll be asking them to score goals next. But in all seriousness, Ramsey Out !
Unless there is a bigger picture not being reported (surely not?!), that is no way to motivate players.
Shocked if this is what Ramsey actually said as he has been supportive to date, I guess the players reaction tonight will offer an insight.
This is exactly what they should be told ! Too many of them have been a fcking disgrace as pro footballers and to this club. There has been nothing but unacceptable excuses from day one of this season ! Not fit enough, less time to train due to the play offs or couldn't get this or that player in before the transfer window closed. Ridiculous almost laughable excuses. Every one of those players can perform but for some reason they haven't been. I can't wait for the end of this season and the hopeful disappearance of the trash performers when their contracts expire. Personally I think Ramsey should stay on as manager until the end of the season because I can't see anyone who comes in making that much of a difference, it's all down to the players at the end of the day !!
Just goes to show there are those that are even more incomprehensible in a press conference than HR. I read this several times and still have no idea what he's trying to say.
Its as obvious as a smack in the face. If you can't understand what he's trying to say AAAAGH then there's summat wrong with you bro. I like Ramsay's forthright approach. Maybe it'll inject a bit of life into the under-performers.
Happy to admit there is something wrong with me but the list is getting long and boring. I like your forthright approach Swords, but I wouldn't have you anywhere near our dressing room in a million years. What we need is cortisone injections for the over 30's and someone who the players will respect, like it or not. If we think Ramsey is becoming annoying after 2 days how do think the players will be feeling? #Smell the coffee
As I said in another post, when the new manager is found he will be gone so he doesnt have to face any problems from the players>
I agree Swords, as we only have 14 games left, there is no time for gently gently. The big question is, why did Harry/Bond/Jordan/Hoddle let the players get away with failing fitness standards for so long (if that is the truth)
'Appen I'd be better than Mr Motivator himself, Rhino lad Seriously though, I think Ramsay was correct to tell the squad in no uncertain terms that they've been underperforming and needed to up their game. Lets hope they can keep this level of performance until the end of the season.
