Hull City's Paul McShane admits he thought Tigers career was over after Steve Bruce bust-up please log in to view this image PAUL McShane has “made peace with the past” after his Hull City return helped inspire an impressive 1-1 draw at Manchester City. McShane made his first Premier League appearance in almost three months on Saturday and came within a whisker of claiming a famous win over Manuel Pellegrini’s title-chasers. James Milner’s stoppage-time free-kick cancelled out David Meyler’s first-half opener to peg the Tigers back at the death, but it remained an afternoon to cherish for McShane. The Irish defender has been out in the cold since a bust-up with manager Steve Bruce left him training with the under-21s squad in December, an episode that he admits cast doubt over his future at the KC. An apology to Bruce invited McShane back into the first-team ranks at the turn of the year and the defender now hopes he can play a lead role in the club’s fight for Premier League survival. “You can’t hold grudges in football. It is such a short career,” said McShane. “You have got to make peace with the past when you move forward. That is what I will do. You never know what is going to happen next. “To be honest, I didn’t (think I would play for City again). But there is always hope. “You always have to have a bit of hope. That is what I have had. “I have been keeping fit, and staying ready for my chance, because when you go a long time without playing and get thrown into a game like that you can get found wanting.” Bruce reserved praise for McShane afterwards, accepting the defender’s refusal to accept a bit-part role mirrored his latter days as a player with Manchester United. “The problem with Paul is he gets himself a young angry man when he’s not playing and unfortunately he can’t control himself, which I can fully understand,” said Bruce. “I left the biggest club in the world because I got dropped for a FA Cup final (in 1995) so I know exactly where he comes from but I can only pick 11, that’s the most difficult part.” Told about Bruce’s comments, McShane joked: “If I have to leave the greatest club in the world, Hull City, I’ll be disappointed as well!” Whether McShane’s future at the KC will extend beyond his contract expiring this summer remains to be seen, but he and his team-mates gave their survival prospects a timely shot in the arm at the weekend. Seven days after a timid demise against Newcastle earned City criticism, McShane hopes the point at the Etihad Stadium will have proved people wrong. “Yes there was a few strong words, and deservedly so,” he added. “We were in the day after just trying to put things right. Hopefully today is a step closer to going on a good run. “There was a lot of stuff in the press about us not looking like a team. But we certainly looked like a team here (against Manchester City). “As a footballer there are always question marks, no matter what standard you are at. You have got to go out there and give it the best you can to prove people wrong. It’s great to do it.” http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-25994030-detail/story.html#ixzz3RFCdiC00
I'd pick Mcshane over Davies now and let Davies go at the end of the season, might as well have honest lads like Mcshane playing and get another centre-back in the summer who isn't a flash ****, Davies is one of the biggest disappointments for me ever after what he did helping us last season, money isn't everything and he will find that out soon the hard way
People like McShane and Bruce aren't and never will be top PL players but what the give the team and in performances warrants them a place at the club. Only so many players can make the team so unrest players is expected and a good sign that all players want to play. We could have really done with a cup run this year to keep people happy.
I think blaming Davies' form on the contract situation is easy to do. Whether it's right or not, you can't prove, nor can I. However at their best, Davies is the better player by far in my opinion. His agent has spat his dummy out on twitter, but I've never seen Curtis say anything other than 'I'm my own harshest critic'. Admittedly his season has been a massive let-down after the previous one, but who's to say his performances won't improve once again. Who we keep and who we let go depends on what happens between now and the end of the season and which division we're in.
Davis's head went up his arse when all this "Davis for England" ****e was doing the rounds last season. Hate to say it but Roy Keane hit the nail on the head with Davis. Bringing Dawson in who has played for England only put his nose out of joint even more. Its okay bleating to the world via twatter or his agent but the only thing that matters is what he does on the pitch. He hasn't done it so he finally got dropped and quite simply, he shouldn't get near the team unless whoever replaced him either plays consistently ****e or gets injured. Fair play the macca for having the balls to come out and say that. Imo, he will never make a full time premier league centre half but one thing is for certain, if he does play he will die for the shirt and in this situation i'd rather have 11 macca's on the pitch then a bunch of premier league pretty boys who are more interested in there complexion and bank balances then my club.
1. His name is Davies, not Davis. 2. He was our Player Of The Season last season. He's obviously not playing as well as last season, but accusing him of all sorts of nonsense that you can't back up at all makes you look a complete penis(particularly when you can't even get his ****ing name right).
Not a chance that Macca will be going anywhere out on loan especially after saturday. Curtis Davies can either pull in his bottom lip and shape up or feck off. The sulking so and so.
I disagree. If you spell the name of one of our players incorrectly, I will certainly regard your opinion as less valid than those of posters who spell his name correctly. And I imagine I'm not alone.
You need to turn them back on just to have a quick look at yours, and then turn them off again quickly before you get your eyes burnt by Tigeroo's
