I understand. I can also see why the rat would be more entertaining.

Over the course of the summer we grew to admire the little fella .......... I swear he'd pause slightly, as he passed, and nod to the security lads.

At 3am on a hot summers night it was a highlight few of us will ever forget, brings a tear to my eye even now <ok>

Moments to be savoured mate. Envy. :emoticon-0106-cryin

I remember as a schoolboy staying with my sister and brother in law during the holidays on a farm where they worked. They used to leave beer out in a saucer every night. The same rat used to come along every night, drink it`s fill and keel over. The next morning it would wake up and stagger off back to it`s nest.

The daft bastard probably starved. <doh>

    But died happy. <laugh>

Absolutely true mate. Seen it myself. A saucer of beer in the corner of the granary. An alcoholic rat. Amazing to see it wake up and totter off wondering wtf was going on.

Hawksby on an afternoon can be quite entertaining, the rest are truly diabolical, in the words of Steve C.

Micky Gray is on there sometimes and always talks sense, which is surprising to me considering he was always known as been one of the daft lads..

Regarding listening to Talksport, I can only say it is akin to a road crash. You know that it is not good and might actually be horrendous, but you just can't help having a peek.

I have worked is Sunderland for over ten years and used to drink in Sunderland in my younger years. There are some beautiful parts of Sunderland and some lovely buildings however what let's Sunderland down badly is it's 1960's style town centre which has been allowed to drop to bits. We are finally seeing some investment into trying to make the place more appealing (I have my doubts as to this ending up as a fortune wasted) the night life in Sunderland is no where near what it used to be but you could argue that about most places. Sadly these days we don't seem to build grand beautiful buildings anymore. It would be interesting to see the difference in Sunderland had it had the money Newcastle and Gateshead have had thrown at it. Council in Sunderland is ****.

It is easy to criticise the council, and yes they have made mistakes, but you hit the nail on the head with the amount of money. Tyne and Wear was created for the sole purpose of using the taxes of the wider population of the area to get the money to develop Newcastle and the area of Gateshead across the river from Newcastle. Once this was achieved then this government body was disbanded. Every time Sunderland has applied for substantial government funding they have had the rug pulled from under them, so it really has been difficult for the council.

Couldn't agree more. Hopefully we get more investment in the town center

Being originally from the upper class Ryhope area of Sunderland, I turn my nose up at those riff raff from the north side of the river..
