Is that Klopp bloke still there? The British media were ****ing over him not too long ago. Has it gone tits already? I know nowt about it, but I do know a team that was CL finalists so recently shouldn't be bottom of their league.
I went to Dortmund for a game in December and it blew me away, the atmosphere was incredible the whole feel of the place on game day was like nothing I've seen before. The club is the heart beat of the city the fans are crazy about them and you couldn't helped get sucked in. For a city with a similar size population to Hull and East Riding the biggest feeling I came away with was jealousy. They have the perfect Balance the club love the fans ,the fans love the club and it works perfectly. I have a huge soft spot for them now and really hope they stay up.
What is great is they've stuck by him. If Liverpool had been in a similar position Rodgers would of been long gone.
I see since I started this thread they've won 3 on the trot and now sit mid-table. I'm not saying it's entirely down to my pep talk but it cant all be a coincidence... I'll be lumping on them to knock out Juve.
25,000 people stood up behind one goal? That sounds highly dangerous? People waving big flags about? Dangerous and could spoil somebody's view. Beer sold on the terraces? A recipe for mayhem. Let's hope we never see any of that sort of thing here. Imagine all the traumatised kids who wouldn't be able to sleep.
What problems? Violence or just general stupidity? Don't read a lot about German football so not in the know.
Both. I've got a mate in Germany(Frankfurt fan) and he says problems are increasing all the time and there's been a lot of debate about banning alcohol in the stands as a consequence. The German model is great with regard to pricing, attendances and general atmosphere, but it does come at a cost and they are looking at reigning things in a bit.
Was watching a game the other night where they were smoking in the stands. Seen that at other European matches. Maybe they don't consider football stadiums an enclosed space. Don't smoke myself but it seems another more sensible attitude than we have. I wonder why they are having problems now with drinking at games when it has gone on for years before without any?
I don't think it's a new issue, the police already have the ability to prevent the sale of alcohol at any match they consider to be high risk and some of the German train operators have a complete alcohol ban on trains to stadiums on match days.
What I meant was why it seems to be increasing now. Have always preferred the drinking culture. Plenty of strong, good quality beer consumed but none of the on edge feelings you get here because people are aggressive. Regarding prices in the 2 countries, I first went to Germany with my parents in 1963. A beer was an astronomical price compared to here, now despite longer opening hours and table service in Germany prices are cheaper. One interesting fact, Germany consumes the most beer in Europe. 8% of the duty raised on beer in the EU is raised in Germany. 42, yes 42% is raised in the UK.
Another win, 3-0 against a 'big team' and now only 8 points off 4th. I'll expect 88,000 emails of thanks for my pep-talk once they qualify for Europe.
They need two goals tonight v Juve in the second half, will be worth watching, Tevez got an early goal tonight, Weidenfeller could have done better
Disappointing in the end, Juve march on. Pogba done a hammy and Pirlo out so their squad might be a bit tested in the coming weeks.
