Within the next couple of weeks, the FA are hopefully going to say “No to Hull Tigers” for the second time. We can be sure there’ll be a “Club Statement” in response. How the club responds will be fascinating, and could set the tone for the rest of the season. Here’s how they could do it… The owners and management of Hull City AFC acknowledge the Football Association’s latest decision about the naming of the club, and would like to take the opportunity to accept this second rejection in full. We accept that the FA’s process of investigating the case for renaming was thorough and impartial. Accordingly, the issue of changing the name of this football club is hereby dropped, and will not be pursued again under the present owners. We also acknowledge the substantial opposition to renaming the club from our own supporters, and the club wishes to place on the record its regret at not involving Hull City fans in discussions about our shared future and identity. Fans are the lifeblood of any football club, and we apologise for not valuing the views of our supporters and hope to learn lessons for the future. The club wishes to announce that all recent rebranding away from the name Hull City will be reversed, including on social media, the matchday programme and advertising. Instead, the name Hull City will once again be proudly displayed. At the earliest possible opportunity, we will also restore to our shirts the most recent club crest that featured our full name. Dr Allam would like to make public an apology for describing Hull City fans as “hooligans” in late 2013, a comment he deeply regrets and accepts was wholly inappropriate and inaccurate. Finally, the club hopes that this will see an end to a matter that has been too divisive for too long. We implore the magnificent fans of Hull City to unite together in support of Steve Bruce and the team as we strive to retain Premier League football in Hull. I noticed last night that on the club's YouTube channel that all the titles of videos now say "The Tigers" instead of Hull City. Whether that be for highlights of games from years ago, game previews, reactions, etc. The last time we used "Hull City" in a title was Curtis Davies' Everton game preview. They have been slowly but surely eradicating all existence of Hull City for the best part of a year and a half, the sly ****ers. I hope they once again get rejected, and are made to apologise to the fans for their rude, arrogant and dictator like approach to the whole name change scenario.
They'll accept the rejection officially, but will still refuse to put 'Hull City' on anything. So same as now probably.
More likely, The club are to appeal the appeal. Followed by a stamping of feet, nashing oh teeth and a hail of teddies
I think they've been told they can't reapply if the arbitration panel finds there was nothing wrong with the original decision.
If the FA allow the appeal could we expect something so magnanimous from AN and the others? No, we can't. Hypocrisy at its finest.
I can't work out why he's bothered apealing, he's changing it everywhere anyway, and the system looks impotent toward stopping it.
It should be made clear that if the arbitration panel DO report their findings in favour of the Allams (even if it's a technical point) then the name change will still not go ahead but the process will start all over again and from square one. It will be a re-set back to August 2013 when AA first announced his intention. It's at this point I might just say '**** It' I can't be arsed anymore....
Everything but the playing name. Which is the game-changer. Can you imagine listening to the scores on a Saturday afternoon - it'll be 'Hull Tigers 1 Aston Villa 1' It's embarrassing.
The question should be will he lie again if the appeal decision goes for him, this process will not reverse the name change decision if it goes in his favour.....it will simply mean he can start the application process again.......something he is on the record as saying he will not do. Additionally if he reapplies he will have to do so on the FA terms including stakeholder consultation, as on this occasion he will be fully aware of the procedure
When it's rejected, he has to respond. He'll either accept the rejection and give up on it(which seems unlikely), or he'll have another rant and say he's flogging up. To continue using the wrong name on social media sites, with no chance of that actually being accepted as the club name, would be utterly ridiculous. I know he's no stranger to the ridiculous, but even he's going to have trouble defending this nonsense beyond the FA decision.
Hopefully if the decision goes against Allam, the FA will insist that all official media/marketing etc revert to the club name & refusal will lead to financial sanctions against the owner
