The House that Jim Built

Hi All

I have got to say, with excellent timing in posting this ...the article reminds me of why I am an R.
And why QPR is so special.

Thanks for that beth. Great read. I can remember sliding in the mud where the South Africa stand is now.

 

Great article. I particularly liked the wooden tea hut on the South Africa Road picture. There was another hut further along, also at the top where my dad bought me a tea. Great memories.

I'm a bit too young to remember the open version of the stadium, but just reading the name Omniturf brought back fantastic memories of that pitch invasion at the end of the prior season where we all took home a piece of hallowed turf (mud really) from what we thought would be the last ever grass pitch at Loftus Road.

Jim and all the other Gregory's over the years have served the club extremely well and will always retain a piece of QPR folklore.

 

I remember playing on the grass bank while my dad watched the game, on of sneaking in just after half time when the opened the gates. Also buying peanuts from the guy walking around the ground every game selling them.

Jim Gregory by a million miles the most influential figure in Rangers history. Apart from a couple of coats of paint every couple of years what you see at Loftus road was all his work.

Crumbs he used to run the club with the Manager and the club secretary (Ron Phillips who used to do the programme as well - which was the best in the league by the way) and got us from nowhere to the top flight with a league cup win on the way!


Jim loved the rangers and it is a real shame that no one did a biography of him.

 

Great chairman who lived and died for QPR we owe him so much.
