He's played ninety minutes a few times recently. He does tend to disappear for patches in games IMO but he is one of those players that can come up with a bit of magic when your not expecting it. TBF to him, he works hard for the team too, he does the chasing and harassing to regain possession etc.
Besic likes to get involved and is a potential sending off so needs to be managed Barry doesn't give a **** so doesn't have that problem #threeyears
Would be interesting to see how this team would look now had Lovren, Skrtel, Jones, Johnson not been injured ... ?
Agreed, he works very hard off the ball and that is what sets him apart to the likes of Ozil, Silva and co (note, I'm not saying he's better than them but he has more to his game).
I find that strange, he is required to do that pressing as part of the way Rodgers sets his team up. The others are not as this is not how they setup
I don't think team setups should matter when it comes to work ethic. Players should always be willing to work hard for the team regardless of tactics. Pressing isn't the only way either.
Without looking fully into the roles and so called workrate of each player its difficult. All three mentioned are terrific players in the roles they perform either attacking or defensive
Without doubt they are all good players. I actually think Jimmy was a bit harsh on Silva, I think he does work hard for the team. Ozil not so much. Two ways of looking at this at a glance; is the player willing to play anywhere on the pitch for the good of the team and does the player try to regain possession when they lose the ball or do they stand feeling sorry for themselves. For me, Ozil is one of the best AMs in the game when on form but he's not prepared to do either of those two things. Silva and Coutinho do. That's the difference for me. I often use Berbatov as a good example. On his day he was a fantastic player that could do almost anything with the ball, but he was also the laziest player going too. As much as I rate his ability, i wouldn't want him in my side because of that work ethic (or lack of).
The Guardian did a combined XI http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/feb/05/liverpool-everton-derby-combined-eleven please log in to view this image Stones over Can If we play our actual formation then we don't need Baines The only possibilty is Mirallas over Markovic. Mirallas is a ball-grabbing twat so I'd stick with Markovic anyway.
As a genuine CB Stones is way ahead of him. If you stuck Can in a back 4 he'd quickly show that he's a midfield player.................
well lets put it this way.... if lazy bartards don't have to work tfine... but a great example is andreas iniesta... does he press... yes.. the tactic is tactical pressing on the right time, the mistake the ball played to someone facing wong way, the bad touch etc... EVERYONE is expected to be awake and move when the chance to rob the ball comes. Then he is also required to cover left full when we don't have ball and drop off. it really is quite simple. he is left forward not a no 10. he has to work with full back and press.... same as sterling once sturridge is back. he is not ronaldo and we cannot afford passengers.
yeah but this is a moot point... he's not in a back 4 is he. and astro the genius told me stones is ****e so i'm sure he is.....
this is nuts... why the F would anyone fit stones into a combined 11 over coleman???? Why would sturrdge not be in... etc etc its a bit of bullshit really.
It's the best they could do for Everton. Since Baines isn't taking pens or free kicks for us if Gerrard is also in the side he offers **** all too.
