I can understand a bit of spleen venting, but really ... Taken from another thread: It is the mob mentality with posters trying to top the previous post. (Like the Monty Python sketch "Four Yorkshire Men") "You were lucky to have a LAKE! There were a hundred and sixty of us living in a small shoebox in t'middle of t'road." Yorkshire man 1. "Harry lied about Adel being thirty stone overweight." Yorkshire man 2. "That's nothing, he lied about his reason for leaving. Knee operation, my @rse. Just an excuse. I've seen him break dancing." Yorkshire man 3. "You think that was bad? He lied about not reading the papers. I saw the man walk in t'dressing room with three hundred newspapers under his arm." Yorkshire man 4. "You lot know nothing. He lied about being a man. His real name is Brenda. He lied about getting up 2 hours before he went to bed so that he could be the first at the training ground. He lied about his dog, Rosie - he actually has a cat called Jim. He was not being truthful when he said that when he gets home Sandra would thrash him to sleep with a belt!" Yorkshire man 1: "Well, Amit was lying too." Yorkshire man 2: "That's nothing. TF is a big, fat liar." Yorkshire man 3: "Even worse, Les Ferdinand used to lie for England." Yorkshire man 4: "Les Ferdinand? You're lying. Everyone knows that was John Terry and Ashley Cole!" ... and on ... and on ... and on. FFS get over it. HE'S GONE. Time to stop the kicking. The future is brighter without him. Now let's get on with it.
Yep ................. the slate gets wiped and we start all over again. New manager, new player attitude ( we hope ) fans have a new sense of belief. Long may it live!
Good words Eamon - we've had a couple of days of sniping (in fairness, I did most of mine in the last few months) but we have a half decent squad, we're within touch of safety and we should be moving forwards rather than paddling in stagnant water.
Eamon I think most of us will move on but Harry only left Tuesday and the debate is still a 'hot topic' for discussion you yourself quoted: 'If only you knew what has been going on behind the scenes' so what do you expect? I don't think it is 'posters trying to top the previous post', as you said but more about having different views. As soon as the new manager is announced people will talk about that and less about Harry.
Good post Eamon though possibly Yorkshiremanist?! Happily, the sentiments expressed on this board are not necessarily those of the majority of QPR fans. We will all be behind the new man, especially if in place by Saturday and can turn Saints over!! We need to remember that it was only 2:1 at their place and we were worthy of the draw. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
There's a big difference though. When Redknapp took over we were cut adrift at the bottom needing a near miracle. Now we're just a point from safety and 4 from 13th. We're right in the thick of it. So the new Manager will deserve all the stick he gets if he doesn't keep us up. Redknapp failed to keep us up and deserved the grief he got but it was from a much worse position. Staying up is everything and the new guy should be told in no uncertain terms that if he fails he will be out.
Very witty Eamon, the thing is I could actually see some having that sort of conversation which is a tad worrying........ Agree, onwards and upwards there is a game to won on Saturday.....
Yep the usual suspects, who ever it is will get my full support & if it doesn't work out this season then so be it & we start afresh again.
Can we have a list of the fickle and also the entry requirements. FFS you want togetherness so we start a post slagging posters. Classic !
Agree 100% we are all together again even SWP Lets support our team … I 'm a lot more optimistic … Hughes and Harold were both past failures The future starts again
Agree, whilst my choice would be Clement and I'm not keen on Sherwood, it looks like he will be getting the job, and I will be fully behind him and the club. While we do put up with a lot supporting this club I do enjoy it there are some that seem to mourn the club and are never happy. Think 2 weeks is extremely optimistic and why I put myself through the pain of checking the Facebook fans page is beyond me, there really should be a direct link to the Samaritans on there!
I will say (not so much at the OP but at the comments after) that it is each fan's prerogative to have reservations about any manager. If we got in Gary Megson, would you really expect everyone to be doing cartwheels? Every viewpoint on this forum is just a subjective opinion of what's best for our club and that includes the management credentials of the person in charge. Some had concerns about Redknapp from the start and these were, to a degree, proven out. Some of us (myself included) were in limbo and some were of the opinion that it was a good appointment. Even with the benefit of hindsight, I would still say that there wasn't a wrong stance to take when he got the job although it's pretty clear he didn't do as well as he has with other clubs. TF has set out the criteria and most of us will like the sound of what he's saying but even then, getting that young manager who works with everyone from the academy players upwards, does tactics and coaches and has long-term aspirations will be difficult. If you add in an imperative to stay up this year and a few other desirable qualities (even and intelligent with the media, good motivator and loyal to the hand that feeds him and is happy to be at QPR for the foreseeable and unknown future), that appointment is a very difficult one to get absolutely right. Only if it's unanimously agreed that the new guy is perfect will the supposedly fickle be appeased (and it might be different fickle folks that raise concerns otherwise) - great if it happens but it really is a tall order (and the further from perfect the appointee is, the more concerns people will have from the outset). Fickle or otherwise, nobody will be wanting anything other than points and performances come each Saturday at 3pm, the doubters will want to be emphatically proven wrong and everybody want our club to be respected and admired in the footballing world.
