It's been tweeted by graeme Bailey on Twitter. Better signing than Gibson considering we aren't paying a fee. Thoughts?
Very good bit of business, on a free, acceptable wages, left footed. Replaces Zenden as our left footed, level headed tempo setter I think. Could do a job on the left wing in a pinch too.
Solid signing, he'll have to fight for a place, but unlike Gibson, it appears he has the confidence in his own ability to take the challenge on. This alone means he'll do for me, the fact he's a very decent player is even better.
I agree 100% that Vaughan would be a better signing than Gibson and not becasue Gibson is ****e (I think he could turn out to be a canny player) just inexperienced. Vaughan at 27/28 represents another experienced footballer to complent an already very strong squad today? Gibson would struggle to get into our first team now,so he will probably opt for a lesser club, where he feels he will get that chance to play.
This one may be true, as he could sign for us, unlike the Wigan womble who's busy singing Abba songs..
Very good back up to have for cattermole and gardner, as i think that's what our central midfield pairing would be, good bit of business yet again by Bruce.
Bailey's notrmally spot on - I've followed him on twitter for a while and he doesn't really spout ****e - normally if it's rumours he'll say "This has been rumoured but we've had no confirmation" if he has said that Vaughn is expected up here then chances are that Vaughn will be here!!
In the exact words; "As stated John O'Shea having his medical and David Vaughan is also due on Wearside today #safc"
jees man, all this peer pressure is making me crumble. The weight of Expectation is to much to carry on my shoulders alone.
Skysports.com understands Sunderland are closing in on David Vaughan with the midfielder on Wearside for talks. Vaughan is available on a free transfer after leaving Blackpool following the expiration of his contract earlier this summer. The 28-year-old was one of Blackpool's top performers last season and his performances alerted a number of clubs to his availability. West Brom were thought to be leading the chase for the Welsh international, but the Baggies have stalled on a deal allowing Sunderland to nip in and pinch the midfielder. Vaughan is set for talks and a medical at the Stadium of Light in the next 24 hours as Steve Brucelooks to secure his signature. Sunderland have been busy in the transfer market this summer and they hope to tie up a deal for Vaughan and Manchester United pair Wes Brown and John O'Shea before the end of the week.
