"This is merely confirming what most fans knew. Huw Jenkins has done a good job for the club, but never seems to hold his hand up when he makes mistakes, which inevitably he does. As a chartered accountant I find his reasons for not extending players contracts for financial reasons hard to understand and in all honesty appears to be an excuse for errors he made in securing players to contract extensions. We must be seen to question decisions that appear incorrect or fall short of the standard required. The problem is, many fans feel that Mr Jenkins is fault free and can do nothing wrong in their eyes but questioning dubious decisions is vital for the continuing growth and financial stability of the club". - telboy14 As your bored boys, I thought I'd post this comment up which I got from WalesOnline,....... and Action!................... please log in to view this image PS: Get in there Dai................ please log in to view this image
There's a huge difference between making mistakes & what people deem as making mistakes , but "Carry on Phil "
He is only seeing one side of the picture, think Jenkins response on the official website tells why decisions are made about extending contracts
This thread is almost becoming sticky. I am loving how late the BBC are with this 'news' though. I would like to know where Pratters went on holiday. Must be pretty exclusive for them to get the Western Mail in the shops there
I to think this is very lazy journalism and not what I normally expect from the BBC. DP should feel embarrassed about this so-called ‘news’ item. Get a life BBC! We've moved on...
I have to be honest - I think there is too much into this not offered a contract rubbish... It was not an attack on him personally and that he only is not being offered a contract.. If i recall, and please correct me if I am wrong, the club put all contract negotiations on hold. My understanding, was that this is because the cost of our squad was so high (recently confirmed in a press release). If we did not make premier league then the board would have to assess all players and finances - we could not have kept up that level of spending for a few more seasons - Fortunately, the balanced and extremely clever approach payed off... All this I was not happy cos of that is not on... anyone with an inch of brain knows that the above was the case and not a personal attack on DP or any of the players..... to be honest I lost my respect for DP at the beginning of the season when he was pointing up to the board after scoring that goal and brushing off the newbies who wanted to celebrate with him - It comes across to me as arrogance and that attack now used as the excuse is unprofessional.... As for DDV, I was disappointed he went, but players do come and go, that's football.... The Board have performed an outstanding job over the years... People can shout all they want and they should have done this and that, but the fact of the matter is this... They took us from the pits of hell and took us to premier league.. And remember, the board appoint the management team and provide the financial balance, which in turn allows the manager and team to manage the players and what happens on the pitch. We are now a Premier League Football team, outstanding!!!! Thanks to the Board, Brendan has been outstanding and to all the players... Thank You!!! Lovin' it!!!!!
I think the BBC(sorry CBC) enjoy knocking the Swans , hence anything detremental is jumped upon with glee by their reporters!!!!!!SAD
jenkins was stupid and upset some of our top players who quite frankly deserved a little better respect, this has cost us two players that we could do with and now they have snubbed jenkings big time and i totally agree with them. jenkins makes to many mistakes as other blogs around the net are saying and has cost us millions over the years, thank god we have some on the board with their heads screwed on because if everything was left to jenkins we would never in a million years be where we are.......
Dai, two things: 1. Change your name from SuperSwans99 back to DaiSwan, how dull do you think we all are? 2. **** off!
ahhh....that's better. I feel the jigsaw is now complete with this site now that Dai is back to full throttle with the Jinks bashing.
The cr*p that Dai used to spout on the old site was one of the main reasons that I couldn't be assed to post on there anymore. Dai just try and understand that no one cares for your senile ramblings!
It's alright, everyone else knows Huw is quality. Leave him to his hate fest boys, we know we've got one of the best chairmen going.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14022836.stm Darren Pratley says he left Swansea City to sign for Bolton because the club was slow to negotiate a new deal. The midfielder holds chairman Huw Jenkins responsible. Pratley, 26, said: "The press asked me and I put it public that I wanted a contract and then the chairman of Swansea... when I was on holiday, I read the paper and it said 'we're in no rush to give Darren a contract'." "So from then I was very disappointed... of what he said." Tough tiddums Dazza! The club dictates when and where we talk about contracts. Sorry mush, that's life. So you were disappointed the chairman wouldn't sit down at your leisure? So what. Sorry mate, gone down a bit in my estimation after this.
Per DP from the BBC link above "And for myself, I'm a Premier League player before I came here [Bolton] and yeah, [I'm] delighted." As Toshack, I think, once said, "There are Premier League players and then there are players that play in the Premier League", to which I add "being signed by a Premier League club does not make you a player that plays in the Premier League."
