Definitely no to Hoddle. I'm prepared to give Les a chance. Bugger lack f experience. Going for expeirence and ambition has done nothing for us for the last three years. We've had too much playing safe with fancy names. Rafa Benitez? Give me strength. Do some never learn? Even Liverpool did not spend enough for Rafa's liking. Whoever it is they must be prepared to roll up their sleeves and start building for the long-term in the summer. All managers start somewhere modest. Tony's next investment must be in finding the right man in the lower leagues who is ready to take on the challenge. It would be nice if he could do so in the Prem but let's not get caught in that vicious circle that it has to be someone who's been there, done it and who has to be signed whatever the price because the cost of failure is too high. Let's not overburden him with the weight of our expectations. What we need right now is a motivator, a manager players want to die for, who can do tactics and who is prepared to give everyone a chance. None of us really know much about any of the candidates out there but let's choose on the back of those criteria. I'd like to think that the new man has the intelligence to find space on his coaching team for the likes of Clint Hill rather than just his gang of cronies. Let's not forget it was his decision at Wembley in the summer that enabled Hoilett even to be on the pitch to win the ball and deliver the pass which led to the goal. It had nothing at all to do with Redknapp
Only light banter! Not a lot out their in all seriousness. Although I don't like him - McLaren could have actually done a job but I don't see him leaving. I really rate Eddie Howe but again why we he leave at this stage of the season? Both would probably want to stick out the season and maybe get promoted. Ones that come to mind are Sherwood, and possibly Ferdinand until the end of the season? Joe Kinear?! A lot of dross about unfortunately.
Thomas Tuchel. I will elaborate later but he is the real deal. Maybe the best up and coming manager in Europe. On a sabatical this year, but is available from next summer. Might be out of our reach as teams like Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen have had approaches rebuffed in the past. But if Tony could sell the total package then who knows. please log in to view this image
Sherwood's win rate at Spurs was 50%. I'd take that. Even a 25% win rate would give us a fighting chance with 34 points.
Mark Warburton at Brentford would be my top choice. But why would he leave a club on the up for one as shambolic as ours? And I never thought I'd say that in relation to Brentford and QPR!!
Therein you have the problem with any up and coming manager, why leave a well-run club on the up to come to the basket-case that is QPR?...
ME too or Clements... but no .......Sherwood will be in place by tonight/tomorrow so he can take tomorrows training session.... but it will be sir Les' team that plays Saturday...
Sherwood's record at Spurs was superb. I realise that it was only a short tenure, but I don't understand why some people are so against him? Is it because he "called out" a few players and showed some passion? Well that's been sadly lacking at Rangers!
The obvious candidates to me would be EH or SM but don't believe either likely as a good chance we'll be swapping divisions with them, not overly keen on TS but could possibly be ok. I'd probably plump for Les until the end of season & decide after that once we know where we stand.
