thanks to the bbc as i did want to know this.

actually amazingly this window had the same spending as last year.

If you considered LFC got carroll for 35mil and suarez for 22mil and let torres go for 50mil in that 2011 number it is actually a totally out of kilter year.

Is it possible that the clubs see zero value at this time and are all out to scalp each other?

I have no memory of 2010 window nor 2012 windows being so **** but this one we knew from day one there was nobody coming and so.... well we formed an opinion that this was a total **** window. funny....

    ok so real stories?

Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert, 32, rejected a £5m deadline-day move to Aston Villa, preferring to stay at Anfield and fight for his place. (Liverpool Echo)

Burnley striker Danny Ings, 22, has rejected a move to Real Sociedad because he wants to sign for Liverpool in the summer. (Daily Mirror)

    OTHER GOSSIP
Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho, 22, has agreed a new long-term contract that is believed to keep the Brazilian at Anfield until 2020. (Daily Star)

Are any actually true... if coutinho signed a new deal it'd be all over Liverpool fc website.

Tottenham have signed MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli on a five-and-a-half-year deal for an initial £5m fee.

I was almost certain we would get him.

    -

Ahead of next season I'd like to see build around the trio of Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho and further solidify our current defense. Whether a back 3 is the right way to move forward I dont know, but it does play to these strengths.

First lets look at the trio. Already strong and we already have some decent depth available in Lallana, Markovic, Ibe and Origi. What I'd like to see added here is a more experienced and proven alternative to Sturridge who clearly fits our playing style, this way we can avoid repeating this seasons striker trouble. I'd alo like to se one of Lambert or Balotelli stay as an alternative style/plan B striker is important.

In midfield we need a more dynamic DM for the games where we need a little more cutting edge, and depending on where Can plays next season we may need a deputy for Henderson. Khedeira and Milner are likely to be available free. Failing those we could look at Sneiderlin or if we have CL, a big name DM.

Finally we need a goal keeper who is more commanding and fits our playing style better. German keepers like Stegen and Trapp seem like popular and realistic choices.

With Gerrard leaving I also feel it is important to bring in experienced and mature players who have been round the block and won real things before, this is a extra reason why Khedeira and Milner would make great additions this summer.

For me those are the priorities.

Luxury options - A CB and a playmaker.

Ok here is a good one! From 'Give Me Sport'.

When Liverpool agreed to the £5 million sale of Jonjo Shelvey to Swansea City in the summer of 2013, Brendan Rodgers not only lost one of the club's brightest young talents, but also the most obvious long-term successor to Steven Gerrard at Anfield.

True, the 22-year-old midfielder hasn't exactly set the world alight since moving to the Liberty Stadium, but he has shown glimpses of the potential that prompted the Reds to pluck him from Charlton Athletic three years earlier.

Against Southampton on Sunday, Shelvey scored a spectacular goal to secure the Swans a valuable 1-0 victory at St Mary's, and provided Rodgers with a timely reminder that he could live to regret the former England U21 international's departure.

  12. It wasn't the only one. Didn't you tell us we wouldn't be signing a lot in the summer? Also that we were in the market last January but we didn't get anyone? <laugh>

I'm not moaning though, just taking the piss. Things change like with that Robben deal. Until the contract is signed nothing is guaranteed <ok>

Think it's harsh to call Schurrle a flop. He's a very good player but Mo didn't fancy him because he doesn't offer much defensive cover, great going forward and a very good eye for goal but defensive chops not what Mo wants. That's his fault not Schurrle's, shouldn't have bought the player in the first place. Cuadrado will get back as well as push forward so will be an 'improvement' but he's a different kind of player.

Everton are very sluggish atm and Lennon is quick but for me he has nowhere near lived up to what was predicted for him as a younger player and is just drifting along in his career. Not sure he offers much on/off the ball other than pace but maybe that's all the bs need to stop their implosion.
