    Being totally honest, considering the dire straits in the summer, I was a little underwhelmed by him but he has proved me wrong and I am very glad to have him permanantly. Surely deserves a look in for upcoming england matches ?

    Good deal. It's not what I would call a superduper bargain, but there's also little risk attached as we already know he fits in with the side and wants to be here. And for an English player in their prime I'd say it's on the low end. Of course we don't know his wages but from all accounts we've kept the wage bill low so I don't anticipate a problem there.

    I bet Chelsea could not have gotten that much for him at the start of the season, but thanks to us jacking up his worth (and fair credit to Bertrand for proving he was worthy of a starting position on a top half side) I think it's quite likely Chelsea could get 12-15m for him now. So all in all, a solid signing if not exactly the world's most exciting one.

    Well that is great news. I was expecting him to sign in the summer but It's excellent to get him tied down now. I will bet that it meant we got a better deal. Happy days!
