Posted this on my own board and it statred a good debate thought I would spread it to others.

News of the World and Sky Sports
I am i alone in thinking about ditching Sky as a result of the activities of the News of the World over the taping of phones of victims of crime?

Basically I can not see how the Murdoch press can be seen as a fit and proper organisation to own and run media out lets in the country.

The footballing aspect of this is that if we all dump Sky, then Sky dumps footbal what happens to the income to the clubs.

A number of high profile companies have already indicated that they will not advertise in the papers any more. Evebn with this hanging over them the Sun hid the story away on the inside pages and the times although it ran the story on the front page played it down more that the other papers. So much for a free press!

The only publication I would miss for acurate reporting would be the Times the rest of the Murdoch press are rubish at getting their fact right any way.

The thing with Sky (Sports in particular) is that it's addictive. I happily end up watching ****e like Slovakia under-19s against Lichsenstein under-19s if I have nothing else to do. If I knew there would be a mass exodus from it, I would, but I wouldn't be the first to start it. It's a good idea though

god knows. As my parents decided to live in a registered house and live in a village without cable TV and we can't have a satellite dish - we can't have it anyway

 

I could start showing how this is part of the esoteric agenda and how the media is one of its most important tools in allowing it's implementation showing just how concering Murdoch's moves for media control re extremely concerning, but im sure no one would listen.

But it shows how smart they are in having everyone by their cahonies, they control the flow of money in the major sports of this country. People aren't willing to risk damaging their clubs and its prospects by damaging the organisation that supplies their money.

I don't have the Skysports channels but have Skysports News and that pisses me off all time! "Sky Sources" " Even better in HD" " Let's get the transfer news with Brian Swanson" " Charlie Adam has tweeted saying that he is watching Skysports News".

You have to make a distiction between News International and BSkyB. News International is owned by the Murdochs and runs NOTW , The Sun , The Times and The Sunday Times. It also owns Sky News. However , BSkyB is only one third owned by News International although they have applied to take over the full company. Sky Sports is just one channel on BSkyB.

 

...because they're **** newspapers, regardless of Phone Hacking. Here's hoping this'll bring down Murdoch.

 

This is why we must oppose a full takeover of BSkyB by NewsCorp. 10 mins of watching Fox News should be all you need to see to convince you of this

I've never been a fan of the News of the World, for as long as I can remember it's been a rag that specializes in exposing scandals and carrying out stings on people. The recent revelations about the phone hacking is disturbing to say the least, unfortunately it is not just peole who are "celebrities" who have had their phones hacked. Correct me if I'm wrong but Sienna Miller has already been compensated because her phone was hacked, as was Andy Grays. I'm sure after Sienna Miller and a couple of other celebs settled with the N.O.t.W the police decided the matter did not warrant further investigation. What good has come from invading the privacy of families who have been victims of horrific crimes, somebody should do jail time for this.

You should boycott newscorp because they are corrupt to the core and mudurdoch is an evil **** who has more of a say on affairs that you would think.

He is one of the major "public" players of the la le lu le lo, the powers that be, the puppet masters.

Newscorp is a tool to brainwash and dumb down the population.
