Am I missing something? How can a club the size of Bournemouth be able to afford £5M for a player? Correct me if I'm wrong but don't they average about 9,000 fans every home game? Their ground only holds 11,500! They also spent about £3M on Callum Wilson too not so long ago! What is their secret? http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sp...ood_to_have_had___5million_Gray_bid_rejected/
We have Steve Lansdown but we couldn't afford that sort of money for a player and we're a far bigger club... Surely there must be some sort of rule in place? FFP or even SCAMP or what ever its called!
They do have rich Russian owners. They cleverly got Real Madrid to play in a friendly - it cost them £1m to get them over - just about broke even on gate receipts, merchandising, corporate hospitality on the night. However it increased their turnover by £1m for FFP/SCAMP - sneaky eh!
Ain't they changed the name of the ground etc, which brings in the rich Russians money legit past FFP. Bit like we might try but everyone will kick off saying nothing is going to change.
If a club wanted to get around FFP, they could. It's pretty easy for a club to fiddle the books to bring in extra "income". If Lansdown really wanted to, he could throw a few million around the club, or spend a ton of money on infrastructure to make the club earn more.
