My brief view on the players performances: Moore saved a penalty but should have got a hand at least to Martin's header. I suspect he thought with some justification that one of the 4 several six footers in defence would have challenged Martin. 5 Malone is an average footballer. League 1 standard. 2 Peltier defended ok but didn't support Harris at all in going forward. 6 Morrison is just poor. 2 Connolly has gone backwards; very poor.2 O'Keefe is a defensive midfielder who got lost as the game went on. 5 Gunnarrsson was anonymous again. Morrison had a better long throw in than him. 4 Whittingham did nothing of note again. 3 Harris was too lightweight but had no support. 4 Revell is an average player; League 1 standard. Worked hard but that was about it. 3 Noone has gone backwards this season. On decent cross which jones should have scored from. 3
Bit tough on O'Keefe Nin as he'd been with us a couple of days only and hadn't had a lot of game time at Palace. He brought industry and movement to our pedestrian midfield and will get better once Pilkington and Mason return and actually create some movement in front of him. I agree that Revell is average but he needs support which was sadly lacking on many occasions. He can't do it all on his own. Can't argue with most of the other ratings. Interestingly apart from picking the ball out of the net twice and saving the very harshly given penalty, Moore had little to do of note other than a good block after Harris gave the ball away while trying to dribble out of the box. For all of Derby's superiority they created very little. Finally, I could have shot that little hobbit Ward. He is an intensely annoying dwarf - with the greatest of respect to all other vertically challenged readers.
BfB, Sure but they didn't have to did they? One goal would have sufficed. I am sure if they had needed to, they would have ramped it up, brought on Bent and scored more.
I don't know Nin. After the game McLaren was talking about missing an opportunity to improve their goal difference. However, if their players felt it was won then perhaps they switched off a bit second half. If only KWJ had headed downwards to make it 1 - 2 it could have been a bit interesting in the last 15 minutes. But then again, the way our lot played, perhaps not!!!!
I didn't think Harris was half as bad as Noone. And with Noone's experience and no lack of game time, he has no excuse. Spending his 'chi' on that giant bird of his, I reckon. I've seen more quality coming out my dog's arse.
I agree. Harris looked to get on the ball, worked hard and put a foot in more than once. Noone gave us absolutely **** all, which when combined with the **** all he's produced all season makes his 'nailed on' position in the side a bit of a joke. Harris deserves a run in the side, if a new winger arrives he should be given Noone's shirt for sure.
