Personally, I think the time has probably come to say our goodbyes to little Wes, if not now then in the summer. He's been a tremendous player for us over the years, particularly during our League One/Championship/Premier League run - but he's past his best now and I don't see him getting in our team. Probably all depends on whether he wants to stay - I can't see the manager or club desperate to shift him. However, endless managers have tried and failed to accommodate Wes in order to get the full wizardry from him, Lambert being the only only one who managed it for any prolonged period. A move to Celtic would be fantastic for him - big stage, first team football and European games. He did start this season pretty well but was soon shifted out wide to bring Jerome into the team and he lost his fizz. He probably played well for about 5 games, and that isn't going to be enough. He really does only have one position he can play well in and he just unbalances the team anywhere else - and we don't play the system that suits him. I've always said that I'd rather have Hoolahan on our side than play against us but I'm not sure I'd say that now. But what a great little player he has been, and a snip at £250,000. One of the best signings during my lifetime. If he goes, he owes us nothing, but we've been good for him too.
He's a wee bit of a conundrum- for me yesterday, he was the only player that showed any real class, and able to pass the ball, have a turning circle less than a combine harvester, is it his fault the other players are **** (in comparison at seeing possibilities- da sliva would look bad in out team) so on the basis that he is a better footballer than the others in the team, i'd let him go, reluctantly
Ironic that only twelve short months ago, some contributors on here (and canary fans in general) wanted to see him hung, drawn and quartered in the centre circle at half time for having the audacity to suggest his best days at this club might be behind him
Paddy Davitt @paddyjdavitt Morning..off we go. #scfc still interested in Olsson deadline deal. Not at #ncfc valuation. #ncfc linked with #wafc chris mccann this am Paddy Davitt @paddyjdavitt 2 more doing the early rounds #ncfc Jonno on #burnley watchlist. #ncfc linked 2 #ccfc craig noone. V Good wide player
Either of those would make sense. I think I'd prefer Noone on the whole for balance, though he does look like he's dipped in form recently
SkyBet Championship @Transfer_News24 4m4 minutes ago Watford are in talks to re-sign Norwich defender Sebastien Bassong on loan. #watfordfc #ncfc
I agree, I'd be amazed if we let him go and if we did it would have to be silly money that Burnley can't afford. Wouldn't be surprised if something came of the Olsson to Swans situation though, unfortunately
A part of me thinks that if we do bring in out-and-out left winger, we won't miss Olsson much. Defensively I do not doubt for a minute that Garrido is substantially better (though obviously also a lot slower). I've found Olsson disappointing for some time. I genuinely think he has cost us more points directly this season than the much-maligned Whittaker and Martin.
I liked the comment by AN that the defence was tighter with Bassong and he get better and with Tettey in front- My misinterpretation linked to the above is let BJ go- fine by me
Charlie Wyett @CharlieWyett 6m6 minutes ago Bournemouth have now bid £5m for Birmingham's Demarai Gray That's pretty serious money for a club of Bournemouth's stature
From a Welsh football journo: Michael Horsford @MichaelHorsford 3m3 minutes ago @thesblake, Noone's a high earner at #CCFC, Russell Slade is under orders to slash wages. Will cost around £500k. Michael Horsford @MichaelHorsford 7m7 minutes ago Norwich are close to finalising a deal for Cardiff City's Craig Noone, expected to be sold for a nominal fee #CCFC #NCFC #DeadlineDay
If Bournemouth don't go up, they will/should be bang to rights by the FFP! And we all know how much that effect that has to a club.................................... so expect a 10 million bid for a player by them very soon!
Burnley have had a bid, reportedly less than £3M, for Graham Dorrans rejected. WBA would rather do business with Norwich. This would tie in with Wes possibly going to Celtic.
