All interesting points of views It seems some still get annoyed enough that when we do well people don't go with it I'd point out I said 12 months ago to trust in SAS and enjoy it while it lasts.... It was a unique set of circumstances Right now this season for us should go one of 2 ways 1. We continue with what works not giving games to just give games and that means our best front 3 is coutinho sterling sturridge and by a flaming mile. If we go di that we could have a good time of it and be competitive (btw to expect others to fold is silly too for top 4 we have to win most of our games) Or 2. We fade away and drop out of cups and end up 6th or 7th Taje your pick and nail your colora to the mast if you choose, in effect it's almost a vote of is it season 1 or season 2 under rodgers that we repeat
You mirror my general opinions this season, but does this mean you want Rodgers out? Where are you looking to go with these opinions? Personally, as I've said above, we're winning games now, playing better/well, and have reduced the amount we've let in. You have to give Rodgers some credit. I think if you maybe take some responsibilities off him (transfers - or at least scrutinise his choices more) and leave him to coaching then maybe we'll do okay. That doesn't get rid of some of the selection problems and his favourites, but he's been forced into realising a few things (like Johsnon is pony) and hopefully he remembers them! The point I'm getting at is do you think we'd be better off without him currently? I would say categorically no.
Nope, I've never wanted him sacked. He gets a few more years but, for me, we won't get much further than 2nd to 6th jumping unless we/he make some changes. He's got to grow some balls to drop big names when they don't perform. That might help somewhat when he's got a team full of his players and no legends remaining from previous eras. He's got to accept weaknesses in himself (like we all do in our jobs) and get in some help with the defensive coaching as well as being less stubborn - sticking with what works rather than always going to back to how he thinks the perfect football system should look (the one he keeps going back to from that infamous dossier). The club as a whole needs to get a grip on the transfer policy so it doesn't matter who we sell/loose in the future, we'll always have replacements lined up who are, most importantly, suited to the style we want above all else. I don't know enough about how our transfers work currently to either call him or the committee out on it - but I think ultimately, it's the owners job to sort that out. But when some players are played and others ignored, when some are obviously not remotely close to our style of play there's a conflict within the decision making process - never mind the obvious lack of forward planning - which needs fixing fast. Right now, for example, the transfer guys should be working over time on getting a striker for the summer to either play instead of or with Sturridge. This, as shown in the last 5 months, is paramount above any other problem we might be having. That gives us 5/6 months to get things sorted so we can get our man early in the summer and settle him in. I somehow don't believe that'll happen...and I would ask why.
Prey much age with all that (bar not calling posters stupid, they deserve it ) Just annoys me when people give Brod zero credit and claim he "lucked out again". Must be the luckiest man on the planet. And despite me defending him, in not a big Brod fan. The **** that comes out his mouth is cringy as **** and I hate three at the back (his third attempt at this too). His insistence on playing Gerrard and Johnson for every minute until more recently too. Never called for him to be sacked either though. When Gonzo made his "sack him" thread just before Christmas I was fighting BRs corner most of the time. In truth, I'm remain 100% sat on the fence with Rodgers. I think he deserves credit and time but nor am I convinced he's the right man to get us back to where we want to be.
True that about the Rodgers love stuff, not criticising him and being a bit patient is hardly fawning over Brod. As for his spiel, being positive does have positive effects and that's just a fact, we may find it cringy, sitting on our couches with a beer being all knowing n **** but in the end he's had problems and fixed them. 3 at the back works if you have ball players there, we have them either side of Skrtel. Mind you Sahko can be ****ing scary with his passes cos sometimes he doesn't sort his feet out and he is so one footed. As for the luck comments, only someone who hasn't the slightest clue of what is involved in managing a PL side week in week out would say that. You make your own luck for the most part anyways. Johnson getting injured, if Can had arrived fit in the summer I reckon he'd have been in the team a lot sooner, Johnson needs to be shipped out ASAP
When all is done and discussed, the bottom line will be IMO this: if we get 4th he'll definitely stay and would deserve to stay to see off any further improvement to the team. If he is out of the CL, he will deserve to get the push for the many mistakes he has made so far. And there won't be lack of very decent candidates to replace him.
Only problem with the far fetched positivity from Brod is that people know he's blowing from his arse so when it comes to needing / meaning it, no one will believe him. PS...we seem to be agreeing on a lot lately, surely were due a fall out?
Didn't Juhnson just get a nice big contract extension? He's a key player for Rodgers and is a bit part of why I question him...****ing awful player these days.
Look.. this is a very fair view. I would not go so far as some in saying FSG sacked dalglish for winning a cup and finihsing 7th. for me they looked at him as a dinosaur. rodgers i'd hope can at least get europa this year. if he doesn't he'll have lost the dressing room as the season fades out i feel. I think honesly all we need do is catch southampton who with respect I've said are one trick and with a coupel of injuries that power game doesn't look so hot. I think we can at worst catch them and keep west ham behind us for 6th and that'll be europa next year. After that I feel arsenal and utd will be everyones favorites for CL for a reason so if we top spurs i think we will have done well... They are decent but so are we so it'll be interesting to see who does better over the rest of the season.
re: johnson... I predict the moment this guy gets his place back and keeps it there will be quite a few on this board groaning fiercely.
Even if you know that it still has a positive effect. It's a scientifically proven fact that even if someone knows they are taking a placebo it still has the placebo effect. But more than that, keep your criticism of players constructive and more importantly, keep it between the player and manager
To clarify, it's about subconscious thought processes, that's why placebos work. Being "positive" like Brod does might make the conscious mind cringe but the subconscious doesn't cringe, and its a fact that your brain makes decisions before you think about them in your conscious mind. It's why subliminal messaging on TV is illegal, because it is programming the brain, literally. So... always try remain positive if you are looking for a positive response. #neuroscience
someone needs to tell him that if he says wonder technician about every player including stewie downing he loses all credibility. it's very hard to take anything he says seriously about any player.
