After England losing to the Aussies, Murray and Saints losing too, I'm looking for the Patriots to cheer me up a bit.
Anyone else watch Fortitude? I love heavily interwoven crime stories, so I think it looks interesting, and the scenery is stunning. Apparently they had to import artificial snow from London as there wasn't enough falling in Iceland
Have to get up at 7 am, watching the Super Bowl. May not be the best decision I'll ever make. I had a 2 and a half hour nap though.
Just tried to watch the Superbowl, lasted 5 minutes...saw about 8 seconds of actual play time wedged in between huddles, ads, player swaps and refs chucking napkins and having a yarn. NFL is atrocious. Still 1000x better than baseball mind.
If you don't understand the rules, I can understand how you might think that, however when you get to know the rules, you'll realise it's a hugely tactical game and nothing in play is accidental. It is stop-and-start, yes, but usually in a good drive, these are fairly quick. Think of it like a game of chess.
I wouldn't watch chess on TV either. I know the rules to a passable degree and i appreciate that there's a lot of tactical nous involved but that doesn't make it enjoyable to watch...especially later in the games when the teams decide to both strategically use their 87 or so time outs each. Yank commentators get on my nerves too.
I dunno, I think it can be enjoyable to watch when you see big plays and amazing shows of athleticism and you can see the play develop. Its like playing a TBS as opposed to a RTS, Yes, actual play time is low, but there's the excitment of when the players line-up, who's going to do what, what's going to happen? Then when it happens, it happens quite quickly and there's the sudden release of excitment. I don't think constant play time as in rugby necessarily better. In fact, in rugby's case I think it's much worse as it seems to result in less tactics being shown.
Half-time show was pretty spectacular, and hugely random! Americans relaly know how to put on a show And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why I love America #screwunderstated
