Playing 3-5-2 frees up our wing backs while keeping everyone in a position that suits them. I take your point about McGregor Kemps, I don't think anyone would be bothered if they were switched.
I think this 'don't sell McShane' rubbish has gone to people's head. It's gone to Macca's head and he suddenly thinks he's the best defender at the club (hence is rather public falling out). Trouble is some of the fans are now starting to believe he's the answer now aswell.
Chazz is right about the fans. It was an absolute embarrassment to see all those fans on MOTD leaving the ground on 78 minutes and walking across the bridge.
McShane is the best AVAILABLE RB. How about this one Lambo! Harper Elmo Dawson Bruce Davies Robbo Meyler Livermore Quinn Ramirez Jelavic
I agree, plus whatever failings Macca may have at RB he would have been a better option there yesterday than Elmo, I'm not saying that's the formation I would have chosen, not at all, but if we were going with 4-4-2 at least play defenders in defensive positions and, by doing so, give Elmo the maximum opportunity to do what he does best, support the attack.
Going back to the third goal, McShane would have thrown himself into the block Elmo flicked out his foot causing the deflection. Elmo is not a Right Back. Rosenior is proving to be the biggest miss out of the lot, RB or LB he never let us down. We always look better with him at RB and Elmo RM in a 442.
442 is not a formation that is suiting us, despite having the talent in there to do it justice, they have become reliant on having three centre backs, as it gives each other cover, and with the added bonus of having two wing backs which not only helps the defence but is supposed to help the midfield. Phelan Lucky ??? I fkn hope so and i believe if he comes then he will lift all those around him, including Bruce who is looking like a guy that really needs help.
When the third went in I was suicidle and flopped back in my seat disgusted. BUT I never even thought of leaving. I think you'll find the greatest majority of the ones leaving are part of the new 2000 that joined up because of our promotion. If we go down they won't be back and that's great, bollocks to them.
However bad the performance I can honestly say I have never left early in my 35 years of supporting. Lightweight Mutha ****ers.
With Phelan's Man U background, you'd probably expect him to be fairly staunch 4-4-2 but we'll have to see what happens once he's had a chance to work with the squad.
My understanding is that Mike Phelan will be in training on monday this hopefully should help the team, with his experience, however what I think we need before the next game is Dean Windass to get into the dressing room and tell a few players how it is. becasue I look around atHuddlestone,Hernandez,Ramirez,Mcgregor and Davies and I really feel they need a kick up the arse or to stop feeling sorry for themselves, to where a tigers shirt, you need abit of fight!
doesn't matter what formation we play, there are too many players out of position and too many players not doing it for us. my team would be Harper McShane Dawson Bruce,Figureou Elmo Livermore Robertson/Brady Diame/Aluko Jelavic Hernandez
Agree with all of that. Our fans are a bit **** at chanting but they always have been. Established clubs (like Newcastle) have established fans who have been with the club for years. Because we have been up and down, we've attracted a lot of new fans and i don't think they're that bothered about creating an atmosphere. It also didn't help that we were totally **** and have been for a while.
I think you will find that the last place anyone wants Dean Windass at the moment is at the training ground telling the squad what to do.
one of the lasting impression I took away from Saturday I'm sad to say, is the sight of our mid-field jogging back(not running} after losing possession and an ordinary Newcastle side breaking up field with SB watching it like a man who's thrown the towel in, just hope that Mike Phelan get's them fired up for the fight ahead , he could be one of our best signing yet.
That was Elmo's first bad game as a right back this season, he's been solid there and definitely first choice to play RB even with h a fully fit squad, particularly if we bring in Lennon. Talk about hounds ffs. We have looked utterly hopeless when playing 5-3-2 this season so I wouldn't even give the thought the time of day. And any team which contains Davies is delusional. He's lost it completely, what an absolute pile of piss. McGregor Elmo Maguire Dawson Robertson Livermore Quinn Aluko Ramirez Brady Jelavic
