I agree with Chazz, this is about the team, nowt else, not even as an ingredient in the mix. Some thing else that someone's posted has me wondering a bit, with regard to the fact that since Steve Agnew left Brucey doesn't really know who to play in which position, let's face it Elmo is outstandly our best potential source of crosses/assists from the right so what sense did it make yesterday, either playing 4-4-2 with him as a fullback, or not playing 3-5-2 giving and extra centre back, two of which were fit and on the bench, and having Elmo in the wingback position. Surely Brucey isn't that incapable of making such basic decisions and getting them right?!
Yes they must have said we could stomach all the name change **** and sing our heads off at Wembley, but this this is just a bridge too far for us we'll sit quiet and do **** all. GTF Our fans are **** pure and simple.
The performance of the fans has been affected by the name change. If you change the system you have to ensure all the players know their responsibilities and how they fit in. If they don't you end up with what happened yesterday, a team that looked lost with nobody taking responsibility to change it on the pitch. I would have thought that was Steve Agnew's responsibility until he left.
At Wembley we thought it was all over. Unfortunately it wasn't. A large number of our fans are customers, they don't like what they saw and walked out.
Chazz you're usually quite gleeful about the people that have stopped coming, now you're complaining about the lack of atmosphere, and you're right, but you must see that a big part of it is due to the 3,000 long-term fans that didn't renew last year, and the 2,000 new fans that replaced them. Even if we stay up, it'll get worse in the stands next season.
Maybe, it wont happen but the way Hudds playing I would rather have Bruce in there with a bit of bottle and McShane at RB would get Elmo playing in his best position. Fig the same at LB push Robertson on.
McShane's a terrible right back, Figgy is a mediocre left back and Bruce is never a midfielder. We have enough trouble with out of position players at the moment, we shouldn't be adding to them. McGreggor Dawson Bruce Davies Elmo Robertson Meyler Livermore Quinn Jelavic Aluko/Ramirez/Hernandez
Mac Elmo. McShane. Dawson. Maguire. Brady. Livermore. Hudds. Ramirez. Aluko. Jelavic. This was my team on the match thread yesterday morning; Davies cannot lead himself anymore and we needed a fully committed trio of centre-backs. Elmo MUST play as a RWB, Brady was my pick for LAB, but Robinson was fit so he was an obvious alternative. Even having seen the game I would still have picked the same midfield. Aluko played well in the first half against West Ham and deserved a run with Jelly. More than anything 3-5-2 was the obvious shape against Newcastle, why didn't Bruce see that? I really do believe he is a clueless tactician. There was a moment towards the end of the TV coverage when the camera focussed on Allam Snr and Jnr, it looked like a moment of decision for them.
The thing that stunned me was the number of folk who thought that was our best eleven and shape. I had to sit and watch that ****e with my Newcastle mates, but at least the 'Ha'Way Sis' tribute band was good Chazz , even a bit of argey bargey at the end, mint.
Bruce may lack in other parts of his game but I reckon he could do a job in front of our defence with a lot more passion and effort than Hudds he aint going to spray 40 yard passes around but when was the last time Hudds got an assist from this great passing ability he has?? Take all the points about Macca and Fig but to free up Elmo what other choice is there??
