Town make the trip to south Wales to try to get some points out of what will be a tough match. Weather will possibly cause some issues but hopefully we can add some points to our away tally. Who will start? Will we see southern get a start as he played 60 odd minutes mid week? Good luck to town, Floreat Salopia.
Very poor game probably influenced by a gusty wind. Shrewsbury created nothing and the goal came from a mixture of persistence by AA and criminal defending by Newport. The new striker looked lost, finding it difficult in the conditions. As for Southern. His words "bringing the experience of having done it all". He should have known better not to commit a reckless and needless challenge with so little time to go. Still 3 points but must improve against Southend which will be another toughie BTW. There is no escape from AJ. He was even quoted in the Newport programme!!!
Thanks for the report Kasule. Sounded like it was never going to be a classic in those conditions but if we are going to win this league we will have to grind out a few ugly wins and this sure sounded like one of those. Things look very tight now at the top but after Southend we have some easier-looking (on paper at least) fixtures coming up. It would be great if we could stay on top or at least get a bit of a gap over the fourth placed team. However this has all the signs of a league which will go to the wire but if we are in the top three at the start of March and get Mangan back that will be a massive boost for us. By the way, who was your Man of the Match?
What on Earth did they quote AJ on! Oh and great report. Hope it was worth the trip even just to realise we gained three points and top of the table!
They use quotes off B & A as part of the Shrewsbury section in the programme. MOM---too difficult to say. Don't really remember who kicked the ball highest and furthest. Possibly Ellis.
Blimey kds you were up early to post that. Is Leutwiler worthy of the MoM as he made some key saves in first half?
Watching the cricket. He made one good save. Strangely MM couldn't remember any. Otherwise, fairly routine. He increasingly dominates his area with authority, though.
A great result bearing in mind that they were doing very well at home, they'd only lost to Wycombe on first day of season and Swindon in the Johnston paint trophy.
So what is AJ supposed to have said! a great result, and with tyrone on board for this Saturday I spy a 1-0 goal fest to town. Shrimps have taken 19 from 30 points and town 21 from 30 points. get this game out of the way and there is only a faltering wobblers away in our way! are Town on their way to 90 points LOL
AJ, they said that you alluded to their recent run of good results as being against weaker opposition.
thanks, well now they know what tough opposition is like. sometimes I wonder if AJ is a brand, perhaps I will market it. coyb FS
Some interesting remarks about our goalkeeper. He is potentially the best keeper we have had for years and is getting more impressive by the week.
