This weekend sees Leeds make the short trip to Huddersfield for a game which is never short of atmosphere. With two new signings in in the week, Leeds have strengthened some of the shortcomings, though width is still a concern. The win against Bournemouth last time broke a dreadful winless run, and the Whites will be looking to build on that result. Huddersfield have enjoyed better form, and are starting to feel comfortable that they won't be dragged into the relegation fight this season. A win against Wigan last time out gives them confidence, and generally their home record has been strong this season. 26 Huddersfield Wins 17 Draws 20 Leeds Wins Historically our Yorkshire neighbours have the upper hand in league meetings, though in recent meetings Leeds have taken the spoils on more occasions. The form book would suggest that Chris Powell's men are coming into this one with more of a chance, though a win-loss pattern has emerged and after their last win at Wigan... Leeds need to find some form after not winning in 8. Hopefully the win against Bournemouth last week will prove to be more than a one-off result. The Damned Prediction 1-0 Leeds Win please log in to view this image I think we can win this one. Huddersfield are enjoying the better season, but we are due a few positive results. There's no reason to suspect we can't win this. The team who beat Bournemouth (albeit with a bit of luck) could turn this Huddersfield side over. It just depends if they turn up on the day. For my selection, I've thrown Bamba in to replace Bellusci, rather than lose Byram at RM. I've also put N'Goyi into the midfield, though I think it's more likely either Cook or Bianchi will take that roll. It'd just be good to have a look at what he's capable of. Other than that, it's the team that faced Bournemouth with Austin reprising his support striker roll, hopefully with a similar intensity.
I think it will be as we were with Bamba replacing Bellusci, according to LUFC Bamba played a behind closed doors match and looked fit. Redfearn expects Bamba to be fit on Saturday: "He's in contention. He's played a game behind closed doors & has looked after himself." #lufc
Great match thread Durham. I reckon we could be seeing Wootton given an extended run out at right back. I'm not a big fan of Beradi. I'd also play Adryan instead of Austin that may be a Latics player by Saturday
Good match thread, LiD. Pretty sure Redders will pick Cook as a deffo starter. N'Goyi may have to wait for his debut, I think. I'm inclined to think that Cook might replace Mowatt. Not sure about N'Goyi's replacement. Obvious choice seems to be Bianchi, but knowing Redders, he'll probably play Austin as DM, even though he's excelled further forward in the last couple of games.
I expect us to win this comfortably.... assuming we continue with the 451 or 4231 type of formation & byram playing wide right with Wooten at RB. I also hope that Bamba and Cooper start at cb. Leeds to win 3-1
Great thread Durham I'd still be playing either Adryan or Montenegro on the left. I don't really know why at leeds united, but we seem scared of talent, flair and game changing abilities. Don't like CMs playing out wide, gives unbalance imo. I'd go: ----------------------------Silvestri------------------------- Wootton----------Bamba-------Cooper--------Taylor --------------------N'Goyi---------Cook------------------ Byram-------------------Murphy---------------Adryan ---------------------------Morison------------------------- Its a bit annoying that we will be forced to make a lot of changes to a team that just beat the league leaders regardless
So why change it? Only required change is a replacement for Bellusci. Why do you want to make further changes to a winning team?
Let me clarify, I think Redders will play both Bamba and N'Goyi regardless so I was putting the team out that I think is best to fit them into. I would change the left side regardless of the other changes.
Cheers guys I actually think Wooton at RB as suggested by a few could be a possibility. Berardi does make me nervous most of the time! I keep forgetting that Adryan is/can play as a winger. Think I'd revise my selection to have him on the left, though he seems to be well and truly out of favour recently.
Redders will not pick any where near my team, but they're my choices for a winning team. .....................Silvestri....................... Berardi....Bambi....Cooper....Taylor N'Goyi...............Bianchi Byram........Antenucci.........Adryan ......................Monty......................... Some will disagree with changing a winning team, thing to look at is, how we won. We didn't win convincingly and Bournemouth weren't playing their best. They also missed a penalty and a few opportunities that could'ave turned the game into a draw or a win for them. We couldn't go for the Jugular, and that's important in a game. Playing catch up or not being able to go for the jugular after being 1-0 up doesn't suggest big improvements to me. We need venom, which we had but lost a while back during Redders temp role. Silvestri...........speaks for itself. Berardi.........some don't like him but I do. We have conceded the least goals from his side when he's been playing. Bambi and Cooper......Cooper speaks for itself, we'll need to wait and see how Bambi and Cooper communicate and play together. Taylor.......good defender still learning but has pace cos of his age. N'Goyi and Bianchi.........Bianchi I like cos he's good at breaking up opposing attacks, he's level headed and his passes are more accurate than not. Both speak italian so should be able to communicate well. Byram........playing better at RM than he has at RB lately, can cross a good ball, but is still a bit off his game. Antenucci........A better striker than Morison but, may or may not be a single striker, he's much better when feeding off the mids etc. I'd encourage him to shoot more from edge of box, which I know he can do. Adryan........he's our playmaker that can scare defenders and tie'em in knots. I think him and Antenucci would link up well in these positions, I'd also encourage him to shoot from edge of box. Monty.........A winger or striker, he is young, has pace and will be playing with adrenalin. He can score goals. I think he needs more playing time to show how good a striker he is. I think he, Antenucci and Adryan could create a good triangle of attack; between three of'em, I reckon they could carve up defences and go for the jugular.
you would not understand are you 5 years old ? pearce has been playing and giving away penalties now leeds will get them when we play wigan , wish he had gone to middlesbroughas we all know your smoggo really ha ha
